Colleen Hyde stopped by over the weekend with new bracelets and dangly bits for your windows. When the light hits the crystals, it makes a beautiful prism on the floor. Highly recommended by cats and discerning birds.

FEATURED ARTIST OF SEPTEMBER

ASHLEY LYNCH

Ashley Lynch, a native of Duluth Minnesota, and now a resident of Northern Wisconsin, is Lake Effect Arts featured artist for the month of September.
Ashley, inspired by nature, works through their internal struggles by painting and creating.
Ashley is a banker at BMO Bank, however, their passion for art is full-time.

Artist profile: Ash Haseltine

Hello! My name is Ash, though around the shop you may hear me referred to as the shops goblin. I am a water transfer artist specializing in hydro dipping. I am also an alternative jewelry maker and amateur taxidermist. I also enjoy exploring paint pouring, acrylic painting, and oil painting.
Much of my work is abstract because it is deeply influenced by my emotions and the music I’m immersed in while creating. Every piece becomes a snapshot of a feeling, a moment, or a state of mind, translated through color, texture, and movement.
I grew up in the small town of Colfax, Wisconsin, and moved to the Ashland area in 2021. Although I originally came here because of a past relationship, I chose to stay because of the incredible natural scenery and the wonderful friends who have become my chosen family.
When I’m not creating art, you’ll usually find me experimenting in the kitchen, PC gaming, playing tabletop games, hiking, swimming, caring for animals, enjoying live music, or catching up on the latest anime.
Living near Lake Superior has had a profound impact on both my life and my art. The lake offers me a sense of peace and stability that quiets my often-chaotic mind. Even on my hardest days, I find comfort in her presence, and that calm inevitably finds its way into my creative process.
