A few days left before this Sunday's Day of the Dead upcycling workshop 🎨💀

Bring an old piece of clothing and learn simple hand-sewing techniques to repair and customise it with embroidery, patches, beads, and embellishments.

No experience needed.

♻️ What I love about upcycling is that it changes the way you see the world. You stop seeing holes, stains, or worn-out clothes.

You start seeing possibilities!!
.. But the downside is that it's much harder to throw things away when your creativity can imagine a hundred ways to reinvent them (that's my excuse anyway! 😅)

I started Atelier Zorro because creating helped quiet my anxious voice (Gertrudo) and get off the endless scroll. Working with your hands engages a different part of your brain.

It slows you down, sparks new ideas, and reminds you that making something imperfect is far more rewarding than consuming another hour of content 😵‍💫

Sometimes what we need is just a creative pause for your mind.

Come meet like-minded people, learn a new skill, and leave with something uniquely yours.

📍 Café Zee, Ealing Broadway
📅 Sunday 25 October

If you're someone who overthinks everything and feels like you need the perfect plan before you start because you're terrified of failure, rejection, or looking silly, this is your reminder:

👉 It only gets easier by doing the thing you've been avoiding.

We see confident people and think that's what we need to start.

That's not how they started.

You need courage to start.
Then you build confidence through repetition.

Your dreams are probably hiding behind the thing your own "Gertrudo" keeps telling you not to do. 💛

I had two tiny wins today while flyering for my creative upcycling workshop on 25 October.

Someone recognised me from an Instagram post, and I realised how comfortable I've become doing something that scared me a few months ago.

I often feel like I'm posting into the void and that nobody is paying attention, it's hard to keep showing up.

But that one small interaction reminded me that not everything is visible. Seeds are being planted even when you can't see them growing.

The second win was realising how comfortable I felt handing out flyers in local venues.

I've learned that when a shop says "no flyers," it's not personal.

I know I'm trying to create something positive for the community, and many local businesses want to support activities that bring people together.

If they have a no-flyer policy, that's simply their policy.

I call my anxiety voice "Gertrudo".

He's usually trying to protect me from things that feel unsafe... when really they're just new.

And I've learned that the things he warns me about are often exactly where I need to go or explore.

So I'll do it scared.

Because confidence comes from repeating the scary thing long enough that it stops feeling scary because you've handled them before.

And eventually, your Gertrudo can relax. ❤️

Follow me on my journey to follow my dreams to build a more creative and meaningful life.

Three months ago, I wrote a letter to myself as 7-year-old Lise.

The little Lise, full of stories, ideas, imagination, and endless creativity.

The version of me who hadn't yet learned who she should be, only who she truly was.

This week, that letter arrived in my mailbox.🥹

Reading it felt like a gentle reminder that finding our way forward is often about finding our way back.

Back to what lights us up and the parts of ourselves that existed before the world told us who to become.

Right now, I'm in the middle of a reinvention.

I'm building a life where creativity isn't just something I do on the side, but something I can make a living from.

A life that feels more meaningful, where I can create things that bring hope, joy, and connection in a world that often feels a little chaotic.

And reinvention is harrrdddd. 😫

It's uncomfortable, uncertain, and sometimes lonely.

But every time I want to rush to the ending, I remind myself that... in every great story, the most interesting part is not the happy ending.
.. It's the hero struggle, the challenges, and the transformation.

So if you're going through your own reinvention right now, I see you.

💪 Keep going. The difficult chapter may be teaching you exactly what you need to learn.

A huge thank you to for the coaching session this summer and for sending this beautiful letter.

It continues to remind me to turn the lens inward, to listen to my own voice instead of comparing myself to others or being influenced by whoever is speaking the loudest.

If you're curious, Rhia is hosting another session in November. Go check out her page. 💛

Real update on promoting my workshop on 25 October.

Honestly, the hardest part isn't creating the workshop. It's getting people to hear about it. 😫

We're all competing for attention in a noisy world, with busy schedules and a tougher economy.

I've spoken to other artists who stopped running workshops because they couldn't get enough people through the door.

At the same time, I keep hearing that people are craving genuine connection, just not through awkward networking events or shouting over music in a bar.

So how do we bridge that gap? 🤔

One thing I've noticed is that the bigger institutions often don't have much in place to help spread the word, even though they probably have the resources.

Meanwhile, independent shops, local classes, and community spaces seem much more willing to support each other and help keep neighbourhoods alive.

A little note to myself for Christmas shopping season: support the businesses that support local creatives. 🎄

As for promotion, I've tried a bit of everything:

📱 Social media ads. They worked well a few years ago, but now they can be expensive for very little return.

📄 Printed flyers. Time-consuming, and I'm honestly not sure how many people still pay attention to them.

💬 Facebook groups. Helpful, but often reaching the same people who already follow similar activities.

So what actually works?

I think it might still be the oldest marketing tool of all: word of mouth.

If you know someone looking for a creative activity, a slower weekend, or a relaxed way to meet new people, send them my video 😚

Every share makes a bigger difference than you might think. ✨

Guillermo gifted me lilies for my birthday this week ♎️, and they arrived as a beautiful reminder.

This season of my life is teaching me that gratitude and struggle can exist side by side. I can be excited about what's ahead while grieving what I'm leaving behind.

As I move from corporate marketing toward a portfolio career and a more meaningful way of living, these lilies remind me that reinvention is rarely comfortable, but it is often beautiful.

If you're in a season of uncertainty too, let this be your reminder: you don't need to have all the answers.

Keep going. Trust yourself.

And find a symbol that helps you believe in what's possible on the other side.

Sometimes, you have to create that chapter yourself.

I visualised lilies during an art therapy meditation with Xuliana .arts, even though they were never flowers I particularly liked or connected with before.

Today, they symbolise reinvention for me.

Where are the libras?

Small win today: exposure therapy works 😅

A few months ago, I was terrified of walking into local venues and asking if they could display a flyer for my workshops.

Today, I realised I'm still not a huge fan of rejection... but the more I practise it and expect it, the easier it gets.

Also, I changed my question. Instead of : "Can I promote my event?"

I'm asking:
"Do you have a board or space for community events?"

It's not about my event or me. It's whether they have space for me to leave a flyer.

That distance helps reframing rejection and not taking it personally.

And you do you have any tricks to handle rejection?

Atelier Zorro is all about slowing down, putting phones away, and reconnecting with your imagination through embroidery and botanical art.

And if you're in Ealing... have you spotted one of my posters yet? 👀🌿✨
