Well that was a blustery one, gladly the wet bit was limited, didn't seem to deter those that took it as a challenge which was lovely to see.
Thank you to all for the positive comments on the revised course and the work put in to make it happen, all have been passed on.
I haven't got to the scores bit yet but they should be up in an hour or so

Next fixture will be the originally intended course and again this year falls on Remembrance Day so there will be the obseerved silence at 1100hrs.

See you all in a couple of weeks

Update on today

We will open but with a short course if it is safe to do so
There will be no catering as it is unsafe for LOL and her high sided van
It is possible that we close earlier than usual

I other words we are playing it by ear

Updates will be in the comments to this post

If it is unsafe to travel please dont

24/10/2026

Please check before travelling tomorrow with the weather been as it is.
I will post any alterations to the day in the morning if needed, luckily I get an hour extra due to the clock change ⏰

Whatever happens please all stay safe

Another lovely day today with some nice scores from everyone, well done.
I'm sure many of you will have already been to look at the days scores but for those who haven't,
Michael Hall topped the sheet on 63/70 with Louise Gibbs not showing her true ability on 44/70 for the ladies, a second card for a few showed just how much better they should have done

Please remember to be careful in and around vehicles and the car park and that there is a 20mph speed limit through the barracks, thank you

Hopefully the weather will be as kind in 2 weeks but I'll not hold my breath, take care and see you all in a fortnight

27th September musings

A little late on the results tonight with both chief engineer and cashier away! Richard, at least, will be back next time (assuming he's sobered up after his well earned boozy break). But they're all up now right here:
https://www.marneclayshoot.co.uk/results/?id=446

A big thankyou again to Jamie for getting you lot entered in taking all your money off you! And thankyou to the team (as always) for the extra graft with Richard away!

We hope you enjoyed the course which was (intentionally) a little gentler than the past few weeks with only the midi on the s***t layout being intentionally deceptive (though Jamie having never shot before hit both of those and I hit them as a SIM pair so I'm accepting no excuses).

Top score of the day was military shooter, Mr Rickaby on a 63, with John Blyth right behind him on a 61.
Ladies tiara going to Louise Gibbs with an excellent 55. And juniors bragging rights with Shay Glenton right up there with a 52!

Some excellent shooting amongst you all through the rain showers!

Thankyou all for continuing to appear and support the club, even through a poor weather forecast and we'll see you lovely people in a fortnight!

13 September tester

A little competition level course today to give everyone something to get their teeth into, plus pies for those needing more, don't worry LOL is back next time.

J Lightowler made the best of the course today on 62/70 with the ladies going to A Hopkinson on 40/70
Well done to all on a stiff course, scores up now

Huge thank you to the team who have pulled it together today with a lot of things to work around, best team ever

30th August ups and downs

As some of you know Izzy is leaving for Spain on a life adventure and today was her last day in the office for you guys and for us an integral part of the team. We wish her all the best and look forward to seeing her in a few months time.

Scores are up now with J Lightowler leading the way on 65/70 and L Hardcastle taking the ladies top spot on 62/70, well done all

Pie and Peas by Deb and Jen seemed to go down a treat so I will endeavour to arrange the same for the next fixture

Thanks to all the Marne team and extended help that brings it together time after time

29/08/2026

As the lovely LOL is away tomorrow I have sorted alternative catering in the form of Pie and Peas, mainly because that's what I like to eat. Beans will be available for those with no taste.
Many thanks to Cockburns Butchers for the fresh cooked goodness

16th August roundup

Firstly I have to thank Lee Curry for setting today's targets, his tour of this year's shoots filled his head with ideas to recreate for you guys, luckily Louise kept him from going full Phil on the difficulty
On top of a great course he has provided a whole set of prizes for those attending today with winners coming from the full range of entrants, the list is further down my ramblings

Top spot was shared by 3 people today, Chris Garsed, Paul Clark and Lee Curry all on 66/70, personally I think Lee did well not to crack under the pressure of his own targets lol
Tiara time went to Louise Gibbs on 58/70
Well done to all, scores up on the results page now

We won't have LOL's amazing catering for the next 2 shoots so you may have to fend for yourselves

Last but certainly not least thank you to all the Marne team for everything that makes the club run

See you all in a couple of weeks

Well a little later than hoped the scores for today are up, and a few personal bests in there I believe
Topping the charts were Mr Emmerson and Mr Blyth both on 66/70 and another double for the ladies with Louise Gibbs and Katie Carvey on 57/70, well shot everyone
We have a guest course setter next time so I'm going direct all blame that way in a fortnight, or take any praise as a team effort, only fair I feel
Have a fantastic couple of weeks and see you next time
