What better way to celebrate Disability Pride month than getting back into the groove of creating art with our bodyminds? đđ€ž
Amelia, Propellerâs Artistic Director, shares her reflections on disability pride, disability arts, and belonging during summer intensive with dancers Russell and Nicolas, and choreographic assistant Meghan.
âAt Propeller Dance, really generating our material for and by each other together with disabilities, being around disabled folks and generating material that is a serious contribution to disability arts is also being so much at the forefront of immediate innovations happening all the time, and I think thatâs profoundly exciting. But to have a space where we have inherent belonging, is what that pride is and then to get to put that on stage, or be out in the community, in the classrooms, like in all of these spaces and places, just feels extremely futuristic and extremely necessary. Iâm just very very very proud to be a part of this community.â
