Three Sisters Theatre Company

Three Sisters Theatre Company Making sure Ottawa theatre can pass the Bechdel test. We are now planning regular productions, starting in February 2015 with Marion Bridge.

Three Sisters Theatre Company sprang from the observation that few productions in the Ottawa theatre community pass the Bechdel test. Our first production was Birth: A Play by Karen Brody, which ran in August 2009 with a cast of 8 local female actors. Three Sisters’ mandate is to increase performance opportunities for Ottawa’s considerable female talent pool, and especially to increase opportuniti

es for women to work together. Three Sisters seeks to bring more theatrical stories featuring complex female characters to the Ottawa professional theatre scene. What is the Bechdel test? What is now known as the Bechdel test was introduced in a comic strip by Alison Bechdel. To pass the test, the story must meet three requirements:
1. It has to have at least two women in it,
2. who talk to each other,
3. about something besides a man.

The Great Canadian Theatre Company is holding its annual general auditions in May 2026!

Auditions will be held at GCTC in the Studio Theatre in Ottawa by appointment on May 11th and 12th, with an Open Call day on the 13th.

As we wish to see artists once every two years, artists who were seen in the 2025 General Auditions are asked not to reapply, unless they were seen by video.

Deadline for audition submissions: Thursday April 16th @ 1:00pm, Eastern Time.

For more information and how to submit, head over to gctc.ca/for-artists
