Don't miss New Clay Conference October 20-22 2023.

This conference featuring 3 talented Canadians and an equally talented American known for highlighting Canadian Ceramics on his podcast is hosted by Gloucester Pottery School. GPS is a non-profit organization partnered with the city of Ottawa and located in the city of Ottawa's Shenkman Arts center. The school is just down the hall from the theater in which the conference will take place

As a non-profit, the school strives to provide as equitable programming as possible and at the same time paying artists their value. GPS pays our artists demonstrating at the conference above Carfac minimum rates, provides accommodations, meals, travel and all the materials. They intend to continue increasing how we compensate the artists and all school employees as we value their importance to the school and the community.

The ticket sales from this event directly go into the budget for putting on this event, sponsors including Tucker's Pottery Supply and the General Fine Craft help us make this event happen.

Reduced price student tickets are also available. If you would like to attend the conference and are experiencing financial barriers preventing your attendance, please reach out, they are in the process of setting up formalized programs to assist but will address needs this year on a case by case basis and welcome any recommendations based on what you've seen in other programs.

Photos from the 2022 conference. The venue is the exact same for 2023, it's a long way from the curling club we usef the very first year. The richcraft theater is an amazing space, the crew sets up the most incredible audio visual setup for us including an overhead camera that can projected onto the screen in addition to the regular angles from the tech booth. The weekend features a talk on Friday night, 2 days of demonstrations about four incredibly talented artists, artist talks Saturday night and more.

Last year we had a super incredible lineup of artists and can't believe we have another lineup this year hat is equally talented and we are so thrilled to have them.
