It's Indigenous History Month and we're excited for our final powwow life drawing session of the season featuring not one, not two, but THREE dancers!

And all of them will be familiar faces to those of you who have joined us before (although one of them might surprise us with something new...)

Join us for one of the most unique and special life drawing events around - not just in the city, but in the country. We're so lucky to have something like this here in Ottawa. I still can't believe that this month will be our 4 year anniversary. Where did the time go?

Come join us for this two-hour life drawing session where you can capture the dynamic beauty of powwow dances and their regalia on your own paper. Participants will bring their own material and work with art facilitators to create drawings that capture both the movement of the dancers and their regalia.

And as always - it's totally free to participate!

Tuesday June 9, 2026
6pm-8pm

June is National Indigenous History Month! 🧡
This year, the NAC once again features naedè; migrating by Dene artist Casey Koyczan (.koyczan) on the Kipnes Lantern, a striking work imagining animals crossing a futuristic Arctic transformed by industry in search of safe passage. Inspired by the artist’s experience working at a northern diamond mine, the artwork invites reflection on the evolving relationship between land, industry, and community.
Join us throughout June as we celebrate Indigenous voices, stories, and creativity through this year’s programming, online resources and in person.

Deep in the forests of Aotearoa, a curse stirs...

Te Tangi a Te Tūī is cirque theatre unlike anything you've seen. A visually stunning, allegorical tale of love, legacy, and the supernatural, performed entirely in te reo Māori, the language of the Māori people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
