Dear friends,

With the heartfelt support of Ottawan families, youth, and dedicated volunteers, the IHCCO has proudly served our community for over a decade by fostering a welcoming, family-oriented environment rooted in our religious values and Iranian cultural heritage. We hope to further strengthen this shared space where our children can grow with a strong identity and play a meaningful role in Canada’s multicultural society.

If you would like to become part of a caring and active community, and are interested in contributing your time, skills, or experience to cultural, social, educational, logistical, or media-related activities, we warmly invite you to complete the IHCCO Volunteer Collaboration Form (in Persian) by June 1, 2026.

📊 IHCCO 12th Annual GA and Term 11 Performance Report

We are pleased to inform you that the IHCCO’s 12th term officially began after the annual General Assembly session that was held at the Community Cultural Centre on April 26, 2026. The Board of Trustees remains within its current four-year term of service. However, the two-year term of the previous Board of Directors came to an end, and voting was conducted regarding the election of the new Board members.

By the grace of God, and through the dedicated efforts of our volunteers in managerial and operational roles, we were able to continue and expand many important activities despite one of the most challenging periods in the IHCCO’s history. Activities during Term 11 included:

✅ Organizing 19 special events, ranging from the celebration of Imam Reza’s birth anniversary to Eid al-Fitr prayers;
âś… Holding 62 community gatherings, from Friendship Nights to Book & Tea sessions;
âś… Conducting 33 educational sessions in areas ranging from Calligraphy to Arabic Literature;
✅ Launching 8 campaigns, including Green Aid for Children, Blood Donation Drives, Support Families in Need in Iran, and initiatives under the cultural-humanitarian “For Iran” project;
âś… Publishing 33 content-based announcements for various national and religious occasions;
âś… Continuing services such as Islamic marriage ceremonies, calligraphy, cultural store, and collection of Zakat al-Fitr;
âś… Expanding the IHCCO Persian School through the addition of new levels, teachers, and students;
âś… Improving the logistical facilities of the Community Cultural Centre;
âś… Holding March Break Camp for the third consecutive year.

In recent months, the Center’s activities were also affected by the crises related to Iran. Among the consequences of these circumstances were the publication of statements at various times in line with the IHCCO’s policies, a reduction in educational courses due to communication difficulties with Iran and the emotional strain on instructors, fewer regular and occasional programs in 2026, and subsequently, reduced fundraising opportunities for the IHCCO.

As in the past, the IHCCO, as an independent community-based organization, continues to plan and organize its activities according to the cultural needs of its target community. In this regard, the number of humanitarian campaigns supporting fellow Iranians inside and outside the country increased, memorial ceremonies were held, and the content of programs, including the Qadr Nights ceremonies, was adapted to foster greater solidarity with people in Iran.

At the same time, thanks to the support of 24 families residing in Ottawa, the costs of maintaining the IHCCO’s permanent location continued to be covered, ensuring that this community hub for cultural activities could be preserved. We sincerely and deeply appreciate the generous contributions of these supporters.

During this period, the IHCCO’s total operating revenue amounted to $105,721, while total operating expenses were $105,567. Accordingly, the IHCCO reported a positive net balance of $154. The chart below shows the distribution of income and expense categories for Term 11.

We sincerely thank all our local financial supporters and dedicated volunteers. We continue to welcome volunteer participation in all areas of IHCCO. In addition, students who contribute their time are eligible to receive community service hour certificates from IHCCO for their school requirements.

Standing with the Proud People and Enduring Civilization of Iran

In response to the recent tragic events in Iran, the Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa (IHCCO), guided by its religious and humanitarian principles, unequivocally condemns all forms of aggression, brutality, destruction, and violations of human dignity by foreigners. We likewise condemn any actions within the country that have caused suffering, injustice, oppression, and the violation of civilian rights, particularly over the past three months, during which thousands of families have lost their loved ones.

With deep sorrow and concern, the IHCCO recognizes the harm inflicted upon innocent individuals, the destruction of medical and educational facilities, damage to critical infrastructure, and attacks on Iran’s cultural and historical heritage as clear violations of human dignity and fundamental ethical principles. Iran, as a cradle of civilization with a rich cultural legacy and enduring contributions to human history, deserves protection and preservation - a responsibility that transcends borders.

As a non-political, community-based institution, the Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa considers its moral duty to express empathy and solidarity with the Iranian community, which is deeply concerned for the future of its homeland, the safety of loved ones, and the preservation of national heritage. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all who have lost innocent lives, from young children and bright youth to women and men of all ages, and we pray for patience and peace for the bereaved.

We reaffirm our commitment to a clear stance against all forms of extremism and destruction, whether internal or external, and remain hopeful for Iran’s stability, progress, and prosperity, as well as the well-being and dignity of its people. We advocate for a third path, grounded in respect for human dignity, protection of national assets, and rejection of all forms of violence and abuse of power. The cultural and humanitarian initiative “For Iran,” previously introduced, is a concrete step in support of this responsible and humane approach. Ultimately, we have only one another, and we must look after each other!

In closing, we pray to His Almighty for the health and well-being of all our fellow citizens, the establishment of lasting peace, and the emergence of a free, prosperous, and secure Iran, where its people can live with dignity, safety, and without suffering or violence.

Helping Hands Campaign | For Iran

Dear friends,

The “For Iran” initiative is a collective and inclusive effort focused on caring for one another within our community, while also taking small yet meaningful steps to support people in Iran and preserve our cultural heritage.

As part of this initiative, the Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa invites all compassionate fellow citizens to take part in the following humanitarian campaign:

⛑️ Helping Hands Campaign

In coordination with the International Committee of the Red Cross, this campaign aims to raise funds to provide essential aid, including healthcare, medical supplies, medication, shelter, and food. These contributions will be delivered through official channels and reputable international organizations to the Iranian Red Crescent, ensuring they reach those in need. As with previous campaigns, efforts will be made to match and double the total funds raised through partnerships with commercial sponsors.

đź’ł To support our fellow Iranians, please send your donations via e-transfer to [email protected] no later than Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

In these difficult times, may we, through solidarity and generosity, play even a small part in easing the suffering of those affected in our beloved Iran.

Participation in the “For Iran” Campaigns

Dear friends,

The Imam Hossein Cultural Centre of Ottawa (IHCCO) is launching the first phase of the “For Iran” project; a collective and inclusive effort to care for one another, strengthen social connections, and preserve Iranian culture. These activities are independent of any political party or system, and their primary purpose is humanitarian and cultural action.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who took part in the initial brainstorming session. More than 20 ideas were reviewed and discussed, and through collective input, the following five campaigns were selected as the most impactful priorities under current circumstances:

đź’š A Gentle Knock: Together, we reach out each day with a simple check-in, a small gesture to remind our loved ones that they are not alone.

đź’š Message Bearer: By delivering messages of kindness and encouragement of others to their loved ones, we build a living bridge of connection so that no heartfelt word goes unspoken and every voice reaches those who are waiting to hear it.

đź’š Helping Hands: In collaboration with the Red Cross and Red Crescent, we join hands to help meet some of the essential needs of our fellow citizens affected by hardship.

đź’š Speak of Iran: We come together to share stories and memories from our homeland, create artistic works, keep our shared roots alive, and pass this deep connection on to future generations.

đź’š House of Calm: Drawing on the knowledge and experience of professionals (psychologists, counselors, educators, and legal experts) we aim to create a safe space for peace, awareness, and mutual support along this journey.

Further details about each campaign and how to participate are provided in the relevant form. We invite you to join one or more campaigns based on your interests and abilities, and to become part of this collective effort by completing the form at your earliest convenience.

We honour the memory of our fellow citizens who have lost their lives in the recent months, and we hope for peace and freedom to prevail over our motherland. May Iran soon see stability and prosperity, may our people be freed from all forms of injustice within, and may foreign aggression be kept far from our homeland.
