This is a view from the end of a garden in South Lancaster, Ontario. It overlooks the St Lawrence River and an island where Loyalist soldiers built a cairn in the early 19th century. This painting marks a departure for me as it’s my first large scale painting, and only the second time I’ve used a palette knife.

I recently finished this recent commission. At Home on Mackay Street (acrylic on canvas, 20
X 16 inches) captures the beauty of the family’s sugar maple, silhouetted against the late winter sky. The tree frames the historic red brick house, and light spills onto the snow outside. With warm thanks to the new owners of this painting!

It’s the last weekend for Ottawa’s Art Credo, an art show and sale featuring dozens of local artists at St John the Evangelist Church downtown on Elgin at Somerset. I will be there noon to 3 pm with greetings cards and more for my pop up shop. Hope you can drop by. Have a great weekend!
