Erza Knightwalker. Fairy Tail, back in the day I thought it was a One Piece Spin-Off!
I feel very old, but back in the day, there were a few forums to read manga. If you wanted to read a new chapter, you had to be subscribed to many forums to catch up with some serie. Some forums would feature about 3-4 manga.
When I read Fairy Tail I was surprised with this alternate universe version of Erza. I did this fanart in 2003 I think, lol.

2003 vs 2025

This is how Mada looked like back in 2003. Her design remains similar, but the style has taken shape during the years.
I used to make lots of doodles instead of paying attention in middleschool. But this is one of the things that came up from those doodles. I felt that she was a combination of Lara Croft from Tomb Raider and Ralph from King of Fighters.
With some time I kept exploring alternative outfits. Working on her back story is what made me turn my characters into a series.

2017, CTnX, Meeting Jake Parker.
I went back to CTnX to see the awesome work of exhibitors that year. I was running through the aisles and I met Jake Parker, creator of the Inktober!
At that time I was very much into the annual activity, so I got a cool illustration signed by him.
Meeting him and looking at how he used that year to combine multiple entries into one illustration gave me the inspiration to do a huge illustration on that year.

Freezer & Goku. Dragon Ball Z was truly epic back in Mexico!
On my homecountry DBZ was very special, you could see it in prime-time, uncut, and dubbed from the original. It truly changed the game in anime culture there. Many people started, or kept drawing (like me) because of this anime.
I did this watercolour from a manga cover to test new media. I love how Toriyama makes these compositions and plays with the height of both characters. I had to do this fanart back in 2005.

2016 & 2017 - CTnX and Tijuana Film & Food Festival
CTnX is such a cool event in Pasadena made for illustrators. I was walking down an aisle and I was lucky enough to meet .
I'm not sure but it was a VERY long time ago when I attended an event at some bungalows in Tijuana where they featured some artists, and I believe Jorge was there because someone told me he was an artist that was working for Nickelodeon at that moment (He ended up doing El Tigre).
After some time I met him again in an event at CECUT. He's as talented an artist as he is friendly. He will always say yes to a picture or signing, and will do his finger pose, lol.
He has an art style that is immediatly recognizable and unique.

2020 Tijuana Geek Kingdom.

Up to this day this was my last event in my hometown Tijuana before moving to Canada!

I was able to see many cool people and cosplayers that I really like (Lilly Hyrule, Tany Crimson, Ian Cosplay).

If you had the chance, what would you like to attend one more time?

2005 vs 2024

This is how Nemesis Stonecat looked like back in 2005. My new style has found its way over the years.
At first I was trying to make designs based on Steampunk fashion. At the time I didn't know a lot of the genre. After a while I learnt about how many writers and culture kept inspiring people to showcase technology in creative ways and storylines which made me think a lot more when I was creating a character.

Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and Yoda from Star Wars. My favorite movie saga!

I made this some time ago as a commission for a pizza place who wanted to showcase the pizza sizes.
I've always been a Star Wars fan so this was a no brainer. I love who many of the designs and the philosophy are based on Japanese Culture.
I first watched the Trilogy on open TV back in the day (Canal 5) and followed it when the prequels came in to the movie theatre!

2007. San Diego Comic-Con.

I was walking outside the venue when I saw him:
Rob Van Dam, unified champion, standing there like it was nothing.

My friend and I approached him. He greeted us, posed for a photo, and we went on our way. It took 30 seconds.

I still remember how that moment felt:
watching a superhero from TV come to life.

After feeling that energy (that someone ordinary can become iconic), I learnt what they mean when they say "larger than life".

Which celebrity would make you react like a kid again?
