Finally, our final performance of the evening was brought to life by Inga Petermann. Her breathtaking performance embodied the delicate balance between individuality and environment, weaving together a tapestry of intricate, complex layers of the human experience, and revealing the beauty of balance and harmony. Audra joined us from Toronto, bringing us her authentic performance style as she presented her new choreography titled โ€œAreteโ€. Inspired by her transformative journey of grief and the personal changes that accompany deep loss. By embracing the transformational power of change, Audra's performance ignited a sense of hope and renewal, reminding us that endings can become a spark to a new beginning.

At Alchemy Fest this year, Heather unleashed her creativity by pushing the boundaries of flow props in innovative ways! Her breathtaking performance showcased a non-standard veil that masterfully merged various flow techniques, illuminating a prop's incredible power to conceal, reveal, frame, and amplify a dancer's movements, inspiring audiences to think outside the box!

Voices Dance Project presented โ€œSevered,โ€ an original piece inspired by the Emmy-winning โ€œSeveranceโ€ which explores a forced split between oneโ€™s โ€œwork selfโ€ and personal life. What happens when these different parts of ourselves merge? How can we bring authenticity to every aspect of life? With many of the Voices dancers holding full time corporate jobs alongside their artistic pursuits, this piece hit close to home for many who continue to use art as a way to be their authentic selves when work lives can feel like drudgeryโ€”artificial and mundane.

This piece was set to an original score by Jack Hui Litster and was choreographed by Abby Head. While the piece uses mostly contemporary choreography, it has influences from jazz, ballet, Bharatanatyam, and modern dance.

Working through a dramatic and theatrical mood, Ophelia presented a structured improvised fusion performance which she titled โ€œHer Storyโ€, inspired by the lives of women accused of witchcraft throughout history, and how their stories were transformed from the ordinary to anything but.

Torontoโ€™s House of Shimmy took to the stage at Alchemy Fest with a unique choreography featuring an original fabric prop called the "Mobius shrug," connecting them both physically and energetically throughout the piece. Together, they developed a piece that fused belly dance technique with contemporary concepts, exploring an expanded dimension of communication between dancers and offers audiences a new layer of visual representation in this dynamic piece

Bringing their fiery blend of Flamenco and FCBD to life on stage were Ruth of Ottawa & Violeta of Quebec City!

Despite being 471 km apart, the creative connection of this duo has remained unwavering thanks to resilience and the magic of technology since they met in Ottawa in 2016. Together, they crafted a captivating original piece inspired by The Siren Project, which wove together the expressive steps of the Fat Chance Belly Dance Style with strong flamenco flair, enhanced by prop work and rich music choices. This duet believes that art can unite the world through shared stories and that multiculturalism makes us stronger and together they showed the Alchemy Fest audience what that could look like with this energetic performance.
