Some pictures from the vernissage of 44.4 Mother/Artist Collective ‘s new show last night. I couldn’t be prouder of the show we put together. It was so wonderful to see my fantastic colleagues after a year away and to see all the work in person and so beautifully installed at Centre d’exposition Art-image.

More details of my work in progress, a large wall installation I’ve been working on this year. Showing off some close-ups of the individual pieces. These are inspired by photos I take when I walk around Cambridge. I’m hoping to show this piece later this year…stay tuned!

Bittersweet day saying goodbye to to and the people there, my cosy cabin, the beautiful archipelago of Fleinavær, and my residency buddies and .phillips who shared these amazing two weeks with me. Shout out also to and who we also shared time, conversation and ideas with. Thank you to the wonderful caretakers & Diego and Ellen & Tom who created such a warm atmosphere and made us feel so cared for and supported.

I will leave a part of me behind on the island and will take part of it with me as it continues to feed and inspire me.

Sinking deeper into the residency. Slowly relaxing into being present in this incredible location. The light, the changing weather, the elements. Seeing an eagle soar overhead. I’m playing with small sculptural figures in a way I haven’t for years. Using what I find here.

I’m at the halfway point of my residency. I spent the first week settling in, walking, seeing and mostly just BEING here. As a mom of two with a busy life it’s taken a while to put the busyness aside and settle to making. At first I did a bit of everything, collected, sketched, played. I’m finally feeling some direction and momentum and am stating to create with what I have found on the island. Looking forward to seeing what the next week brings!

Yesterday was a day for exploring and looking. So many colours and textures to explore. It’s taking me time to settle into the making part of the residency, so I’m just soaking everything in and loving the rocks, rust, seaweed and the ever-changing colours of the sea.

After a full day of travel which included two trains, two planes and a ferry I finally arrived at for a 2-week artist residency.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s even more beautiful than I expected. I can already feel myself letting go of the busyness and stress of my “real” life and starting to sink into being here.

I can’t wait to see what the next days bring.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’m going to be one of the presenters at this year’s Canadian Encaustic Conference , Sept 11-13 2026 in Owen Sound Ontario.

I’ll be running a demo on how I use wet-strength tissue paper in my work to add translucent images to create layers. I’ll also be running a day-long workshop after the conference on Sept 15 where people can try out the techniques for themselves. (No conference registration required for the workshop!)

I’m so looking forward to meeting other encaustic artists from around the country and beyond!

Hope to see you there.
