We are a group of regular guys who enjoy the unique experience of singing in harmony. Our door is always open to the musically inclined or curious! Founded in 1957, The Ottawa Capital City Chorus Inc. is the Ottawa Chapter (L028) of the Ontario District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The Capital City Chorus (CCC) is an acapella men's chorus singing in 4-parts and primarily barbershop-style mus
ic. Our arrangements range from old classics of the early 20th century to contemporary favourites and memorable ballads. Many members enjoy quartetting, taking part in events across the District and Society such as OQE and Brigades, and many Quartets have emerged over the years, usually with several currently active Quartets. The Chorus and our Quartets perform several times a year for both public and private audiences, including regional events and festivals, as invited guest performers and, of course, our own concerts including our family favourite annual Holiday Show. The Capital CIty Chorus and representing Quartets compete and take part regularly at the Ontario District Conventions, and on occasion at Mid-Winter and International Barbershop Society Conventions. Our members range in age from early 20s into their 90s and they have a wide range of musical backgrounds. For some, their first time singing in public was with the chorus, while others have been life-long students and practitioners of music. Every week, members come from across the National Capital Region - from as far west as Renfrew, Rockland in the east end, Kemptville, Johnstown and Smiths Falls south of the city, and north across the Ottawa river from Chelsea, Cantley and Gatineau.
