Ottawa Wheelchair Basketball - OCWSA With the growth of many para-sports in Ottawa and surrounding area, OCWSA has found its niche with wheelchair basketball.

Ottawa Carleton Wheelchair Sports Association (OCWSA) is a charitable organization the was established to provide Awareness (Education) and First Contact (Introduction) of para-sports in Eastern Ontario. In addition to Awareness and First Contact events and activities, OCWSA also supports a recreational league, a AA team in AQSFR (Quebec Wheelchair Sports) and a Junior Ravens Wheelchair Basketball program in partnership with Carleton University and collaboration with the Abilities Centre Ottawa.

With great sadness, we announce the passing of Paul Bowes (Bowesy).

Wheelchair Basketball Canada mourns the passing of Hall of Famer Paul Bowes.

A pillar of the wheelchair basketball community for nearly four decades, Bowes led Canada to Paralympic gold in 2000 and 2004, a World Championship title in 2006, and, most recently, a silver at the 2023 Parapan Am Games. More than the medals, he shaped generations with dignity, respect and courage.

Pilier de la communauté du basketball en fauteuil roulant pendant près de quarante ans, Paul Bowes a mené le Canada à l’or paralympique en 2000 et 2004, à un titre de Championnat du monde en 2006, et, plus récemment, à une médaille d’argent aux Jeux parapanaméricains 2023. Big congrats to Desmond O'Shaugnessy, Tayler O'Shaughnessy, Tyler Bickford, and Russell Wilson for making the Ontario Junior Team! And a special shoutout to Joshua Davies on being named Assistant Coach.

They will be heading to Quebec City from June 5–7, 2026, to compete at the Junior National Championships!
