TONIGHT! Our annual Capital Pop-Up Cinema × Ottawa Chamberfest collaboration is finally here! 🎶

Join us at Beechwood Cemetery at 6:30 p.m. for a truly one-of-a-kind night of live music, experimental cinema and a classic movie.

🎹 Nick Schofield kicks off the evening with a live concert, followed by his improvised live accompaniment to Oskar Fischinger’s Optical Poem — bringing this groundbreaking abstract film to life through music.

Then, as the night gets darker… we’ll turn to a classic Universal favourite for our season finale. 👻

Bundle up, bring your blankets and lawn chairs, and join us under the stars for one last movie night of the season. Stop by our concession for movie-night favourites, including a warm cup of apple c***r to help keep you cozy throughout the evening. 🍎☕

🎵 6:30 PM — Live Music with renown musician and producer Nick Schofield.

🌀 7:00 PM — An Optical Poem (1938)
Oskar Fischinger’s mesmerizing experimental film, brought to life with a live, improvised accompaniment by Nick Schofield.

🎥 7:30 PM — The Mummy’s Tomb (1942)
And finally, as darkness falls, join us for our annual Universal Cinema Classic — The Mummy’s Tomb.

✨ THIS SATURDAY: A FILM YOU’VE NEVER EXPERIENCED LIKE THIS BEFORE

Join us for our annual Capital Pop-Up Cinema × Ottawa Chamberfest collaboration and a truly unique cinematic experience.

Before the film, enjoy a live performance by Ottawa musician Nick Schofield — followed by Nick’s improvised live accompaniment to Oskar Fischinger’s mesmerizing 1938 abstract film An Optical Poem.

There’s no pre-recorded score. No two performances are exactly alike.

As Fischinger’s geometric shapes, colours and patterns move across the screen, Nick creates the soundtrack live, in the moment, responding to the film as it unfolds.

🎹 One film. One musician. One completely improvised score.

It’s part silent film, part live concert, part visual experiment — and an experience you can only have right here, right now.

It’s become one of our favourite traditions — our annual classic Universal horror night at Beechwood Cemetery. And this year, we’re making it even more special. 🎶🎬
