For the fifth consecutive year, Atelier Denu is part of the Capital Pride community event programming.

We host Couples and Throuples for the first Saturday, where multiple models of a mix of genders pose in pairs and trios.

The following Saturday is our second-annual Strip Catan tournament, played on a giant-sized board, as an evolving life drawing challenge, with two returning champions and four new challengers.

In both cases, art supplies will be made available to any and all. Invite anyone who would have a gay time drawing some n**es.

The Ottawa Fringe Festival is on for another week, and quite a number of people who pose for our art workshops are involved in the festival as performers or technicians. Check out these performances, among others.

Also, we have two free tickets for the 23:00 performance of Gander Euphoria the evening of Friday, June 26, for which there will be a draw at our Friday evening long-pose workshop.

Pour le mois d'avril, nous clôturons le semestre avec six événements. La programmation se poursuivra en mai.

1er avril (mercredi) : Des artistes nus se dessinent costumés
3 avril (vendredi) : Cours de peinture à l'huile avec Dasha
4 avril (samedi) : Cours de dessin des détails avec Shawn
9 avril (jeudi) : Vernissage de l'exposition «Let us not be alone»
10 avril (vendredi) : Cours de gouache avec Graceina
11 avril (samedi) : Cours de dessin des contours avec Brad.

Inaugural group show from the Atelier Denu life drawing workshop

1. Call for artists
---
Submit up to two pieces created at Atelier Denu by end-of-day Thursday, March 19, 2026 here:

Everyone who submits will get one piece in the show. Depending upon the number of submissions, you may get a second piece in. [UPDATE: ONLY ONE submission per person will be received.] Final selections will be communicated by Sunday, March 22.

2. Learn about presentation
---
If you have never presented before, you may have no experience with frames and hanging. Feel free to attend a tutorial after our life drawing workshops held March 13 and 14 on how to present your work in a commercially available frame or to install a wire to hang a painted piece.

3. Submission of physical works
---
Work must be received by Saturday, March 28. Feel free to bring ready-to-hang pieces to our life drawing workshops held March 27, or 28, or arrange a time to meet with Shawn. The work will be installed the morning of Monday, March 30. Anyone interested and available to assist in the set up is welcome to join in.

4. Recovery of unsold works

The show ends May 1. Further details on collecting your work will be forthcoming.

This year, Atelier Denu held 80 life drawing workshops with, quite coincidentally, 80 different people posing in these.

Here is a graphic featuring all 80 sessions, and then one highlight from each month.

Some sessions were themed on pose lengths alone.
(gestures; details, details; and long poses)

Other sessions featured the model posing in a certain way.
(all the fauna, all the feels, feign injury, partnered struggle, pretty/ugly, rotations, and tableau vivant)

Some sessions made use of props, costumes, and the environment.
(un/dressing; vélolove; fruits; the sheet; bare, but; paper doll; reading and writing; hiding poorly, and we bring our own light)

We held one event per trimester where anyone is allowed to pose.
(bon voyage, summer showcase, and Hallowe'en showcase)

And we made special events to outreach to communities beyond the purely visually artistic:
summer showcase (for the Ottawa Fringe Festival)
n**e drawing class (for naturists and April Fools)
couples and throuples and strip catan (for Capital Pride Festival), and
a three-model life drawing session (for the new ChromaQueer film and arts festival).
