Congratulations to our 2024 Share Your Piece Micro-Grant Recipient ! 🎉
We are thrilled to announce that Martin Vuong, a talented emerging artist based in Ottawa, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Share Your Piece Micro-Grant, presented in collaboration with the Ottawa Arts Council and Arts Network Ottawa.
Martin’s powerful work examines the relationships between heritage and community, blending history, language, and culture with personal and collective memories. Through surreal portraits, he pairs abstract concepts with concrete figures, using found images and historical accounts to visually narrate stories that have long gone unheard. His current project focuses on French-occupied Vietnam, offering a deeply personal exploration of linguistic identities across French, English, and his mother tongue.
The micro-grant will support the supply and production costs for this meaningful endeavor 🎨✨
Join us at the Pieces of Us season finale, the 2nd Annual Come Correct Performing Arts Competition, on November 28, 2024, at Club SAW. Martin will be accepting his grant and sharing a bit about his story during the event—don’t miss the chance to celebrate his artistry and hear about his journey firsthand.
