We’ve reached the final session in our PBY Masterclass Series. Time to go out with a BANG! 💥

Join us on January 17th at the PBY Studio for a grant-writing workshop led by Kingsley!

Kingsley Swim (she/her) is a fearless community organizer, avid game show enthusiast, and innovative arts professional. Through her brand, The Framework, she strategizes around the redistribution of resources to empower creatives. One example is WARP - a mentorship program she co-founded with friends in her hometown of Ottawa. WARP is administering over $60,000 in event production honorariums while supporting mentees in project planning, with an educational focus on fair artist compensation, accessibility justice, and harm reduction. Kingsley recently launched Baseline with Good Night Out Vancouver to evaluate s*xual violence prevention strategies in rural Canada and explore how they can strengthen safety practices across the music industry, while also contributing to nonprofit music programming as the newest member of ArtHaus Toronto. In 2025, Women in Music Canada recognized her as a Rising Leader for her growing impact, having secured over seven figures in funding for artist-led initiatives.

Announcing The PBY Studio 🎧 Sign our wait-list! (link in bio)

Some of us built our first songs in our bedroom. A USB mic balanced on textbooks. Blankets pinned to the walls. Maybe the sound wasn’t perfect, but it was something special.

We keep thinking about how so many artists stop right there. Not because they aren’t motivated, but because every “real” studio feels expensive or intimidating. It’s almost like the industry wants you to earn your right to record.

That might sound dramatic, but it’s what a lot of us grew up with. You walk into a polished studio and suddenly you’re quiet. You don’t know what engineers expect from you; and you don’t know what to expect from them.

Our community studio aims to break that feeling, and not break your wallet. It may not solve every barrier, but it offers something different. This space was designed as a home for emerging Black artists in Ottawa to feel safe, but many underground artists have felt the effects too. We’re here to help the artists who need high-quality recording, who want to feel comfortable– not exploited, and want to pay a reasonable rate per hour.

All of your funds are breathing life into our studio and blossoming careers for young Black engineers that will be participating in our Recording Engineer Program (REP). We are a non-profit organization that is committed to empowering Black artists and creating safe(r) spaces for them to learn and grow.

Black Market Framework takes a foundational approach to artist and project development through community building, funding and innovative storytelling. Founder of BMF, Kingsley Swim, has experience collaborating within various creative communities across North America and most recently in Europe.

That’s right folks, three recent grads of the Produced by Youth program will be performing at the upcoming Pique summer festival June 10! 😱

13assa and Shaye A have teamed up with Salwa and Tatiana to deliver an “otherworldly experience, leveraged by ethereal vocal performances and live instrumentation”.

N’nerjie is an elite singer-songwriter, and will be performing new music, as well as tracks from her debut EP “heavy”. The final project she shared at the end of our music program BLEW US AWAY, don’t miss it!

Produced by Youth (PBY) is a Black-led grassroots organization that delivers a unique music-making workshop program aimed at fostering a creative safe(r) space exclusively for Black youth to create, connect, and build confidence. Participants follow an adaptive curriculum that caters to specific needs, and work towards finishing a track to be presented to their peers at the end during our end-of-program listening party.
