If you missed me and my studio at Doors Open on the weekend, I made this video before I messed everything up today. You can see most of my current paintings displayed. If you watch until the end you will see a funny misspelling of the word Gatineau in the captions. To be fair maybe it is a regional thing to say it that way.

This is a piece in my Nova Scotia beach series. The whole series celebrates changeable summer weather - the combination of sun, cloud and fog you can get on one day at the beach. In this painting you can see some collage pieces blended into the painted parts in the cloud. It is 12 by 12 and titled Ascending.

I’m happy to have some of my paintings in the lovely on Preston Street! It is a beautiful space full of great local Ottawa art. There are several of my 12 by 12 florals in the gallery as well as two of my 8 by 8 Nova Scotia landscapes.

Here I am adding yellow to this painting in places where it needs a pop of bright colour. My mentor at Mastrius has been helping me work larger than I am used to. This painting - 48 by 36 - is by far the largest I have attempted, and has been my homework project for my Mastrius group. Jean has given me invaluable feedback and encouragement, I’m so grateful.

I was happy to get out and do some sketching outdoors today. This is the flooded park next to Britannia Beach. I am always attracted to the reflections of trees in water.
