From tiny details to bold blocks of colour, there’s a POSCA marker for almost every creative idea🎨

POSCA Paint Markers are available in 55 colours and eight tip sizes, ranging from 0.7 mm to 15 mm. Choose an ultra-fine or fine tip for detailed work, writing and clean lines, or reach for a broad bullet or chisel tip for colouring, lettering and larger designs.

Their non-toxic, water-based paint is opaque, quick-drying, blendable and easy to layer once dry. POSCA markers can also be used on almost any surface, making them a versatile choice for art, crafts, décor, customization and more.

Right now, individual POSCA Paint Markers are 20% off as part of our Back to School Sale! You’ll also find savings on other selected art supplies and studying essentials.

🎨 Think you need to be “talented enough” before taking an art class?

Yulia has a different way of looking at it.

We aren’t born knowing how to cook, drive, or draw. These are skills we develop through practice, patience, and experience.

For Yulia, art isn’t about comparing yourself to someone who has been creating for years. It’s about practising, learning, noticing your own progress, and eventually getting to experience that incredibly rewarding feeling of “I can actually do this.”

So if feeling inexperienced has been holding you back from trying an art class, consider this your reminder: you don’t have to arrive already knowing how. That’s what the class is for. ✏️

🎨 Meet Yulia Lisitsyna, one of the artists and educators behind our classes at Wallack’s!

With over 25 years of experience as a watercolour artist, graphic and ornamental designer, Yulia brings a wealth of creative experience to the classroom.

Her own work is rooted in traditional media and often draws inspiration from medieval patterns, mythology and light — but she also loves looking at familiar subjects from an unexpected angle. Realism might get a slightly unusual colour, an exaggerated reflection, or a quirky detail that makes you look twice.

That sense of curiosity carries into her teaching, too.

For Yulia, learning art isn’t only about gaining technical knowledge. It’s also about becoming more confident using your own eyes and hands, experimenting with materials, and finding some joy in the process along the way.

Some ink colours do more than fill a page. They carry a history!✒️

Kuretake’s Meiji No Iro Inks collection is inspired by the colour and design history of Japan’s Meiji era, with each shade connected to a different part of life during the period:

🩵 Shimbashi-iro: a bright blue-green fashionable among Shimbashi geisha

🖤 Kuroganeiro: a deep blue-green used for store clerks’ aprons

💚 Kujakuryoku: a vivid peacock-inspired colour shaped by Western influence

💜 Shikon: a rich purple reflecting the era’s refined fashion

These smooth, water-based dye inks work beautifully with fountain pens, dip pens and glass pens, creating expressive lines and subtle tonal variation as the ink pools.

Which colour would you try first?

📍Explore the collection online or visit us in-store at 305 Bank Street, Ottawa.
