A few years ago, I decided to weave a series featuring the Canadian provinces. They remain to date some of my favourite tapestries. I enjoyed the project so much that I am currently working on sketches for a new set.

Winnipeg! I have great news. On October 7th, I will be offering a Night Sky Weaving Workshop at Purl & Hank. This is a beginner friendly event and you will leave with a handmade, unique piece of woven art ready for your wall.

Ottawa folks! I have three spots left in my Summer Weaving Workshop happening in Blackburn Hamlet on August 23rd. If you love the beach and would like to learn how to weave one, this is the workshop for you. This is a beginner friendly project, you will learn to warp a loom, weave and finish a wall hanging. I am introducing a few new techniques so even if you have already taken a workshop with me, come on out, you will still learn something new!

I came home from my last show knowing I had nine weaving days until the next one. I created myself an itemized list, scheduled my working hours for each day, and knew exactly what needed to be made so I would feel ready. Then a few mornings ago I woke up to my little artist heart yelling at me to abandon the list and weave this specific scene. It’s of a photo my brother took of one our favorite fishing spots on a lake that I adore. So I listened to my knowing, I abandoned my to-do list, followed my creative impulse and this piece flowed out of me like it was just waiting to be made. Now I am back to regularly scheduled weaving but it was a delightfully scenic detour! 🧶🧡

I brought a basket of yarn and my loom along with me to the Haliburton Art and Craft Festival. It was a three day event, and I figured there would be some downtime in between conversations. Turns out it was a great conversation starter, and I enjoyed answering all the weaving related questions. As an added bonus, I now have a new piece to bring along with me to the Women's Art Festival
that is happening in Kingston on August 8th. My favourite part of this piece are the sparkly bits woven into the water. It’s hard to tell in the photos, so you’ll just have to come see it in person! 🧡🧶

Thank you Haliburton, what a fantastic weekend! It was my first time at the Haliburton Art & Craft Festival and it will not be my last. New collectors, new vendor friends, and so many amazing artists gathered in one beautiful location. It was all pretty special. And a shout out to the top notch volunteer team, you are appreciated. 🧶🧡
