Arts in the Valley celebrated a fabulous afternoon last Saturday with over 140 people joining us in the Kangaroo Valley Hall for the Kate Wadey Quartet. What a way to kick off “jazz in the valley” with the exceptional lineup of Kate Wadey (vocals), Matt McMahon (piano), Sam Dobson (bass) and Tim Geldens (drums).

The Kate Wadey Quartet delivered an enjoyable, fluid and thoroughly engaging program performing a mix of old favourites, as well as Kate’s own compositions. The evening concluded with a standing ovation from the crowd.

It was wonderful to see so many new faces joining us for this concert, coming from far and wide to join in the fun. We hope to see you back at our future jazz events!

“Live music and joyful events couldn’t be more important in these times, bringing us together and making KV such a special place. What a wonderful thing.”

“I hope jazz is here to stay”

“Wow what a fun night! …”

Just some of the feedback we have received since yesterday.

We look forward to welcoming back The Kate Wadey Quartet and look forward to sharing news of our upcoming events soon.

he Arts in the Valley AGM was held last Saturday at the Upper River Hall and it was wonderful to welcome the new Committee and hear about the various exciting activities and cultural events planned for the year ahead.

New President, Peter Butler, welcomed members and paid tribute to Gary Moore on his retirement as President. Gary has worked tirelessly to develop Arts in the Valley for over 10 years. Peter announced that the Committee had unanimously voted to appoint Gary a life member of the Association. Congratulations Gary!

Arts in the Valley is in great shape - a record number of members, a strong program of music events held over the last year and many more planned for '26, and an outstanding exhibition of sculptures held over two weekends in October with record attendances and sales.
It was wonderful to see so many of our Members present at the meeting and the afternoon was topped off by a magical performance by highly talented jazz musician Lucinda Peters, who performed on both the classical guitar and double bass.

We congratulate the elected 2026 Committee and we are very excited to keep you informed about our up-coming events.

President – Peter Butler AM
Music Director – Greg See
Visual Arts Director – Helen Lunn
Assistant Visual Arts Director – Gudula Dornseifer
