So lovely to see the Wandarrah Arts & Crafts Group getting their new machines, ready to keep creating wonderful things for Geelong Mums and Cottage by the Sea.

We can’t wait to see what they make!

Earlier this week, Josh, Libby and Sheyne met some of the crafters from Wandarrah Arts & Crafts Group at to collect some very important equipment. The Wandarrah group submitted a grant application for four overlockers and an embroidery machine to assist in the amazing work they do with sewing items for Geelong Mums and Cottage by the Sea. We're looking forward to visiting the group in the craft room once the machines are set up and ready for work 🪡🪡🪡

Is your child keen to learn to sew? Our after-school sewing classes with the School of Sewing & Upcycling are a great way for young creatives to learn new skills, build confidence and make their own projects!

Suitable for kids aged 8 -14 years, these fun, supportive classes cater to beginners and returning students.

When: Wednesday afternoons, 4pm–5:30pm (starting November 11th)
Where: Heights Sewing Centre, 26–28 Milton Street, Bell Park
Cost: $250 for the term

Sew & Tell Geelong – November Catch-Up!

Our next Sew & Tell session is coming up, and we’d love to see you there!

Sew & Tell is a relaxed, friendly get-together for local sewists who love making their own clothes. It’s a chance to show and tell what you’ve been creating, chat about patterns and fabrics, share challenges, swap ideas and inspire one another.

GEELONG CUP DAY CLOSURE

We’re taking a little break for Geelong Cup Day!

Both Heights Sewing Centre and Heights Service Centre will be closed on Wednesday, 21st October.

We hope everyone enjoys the day off and we’ll be back to our usual hours on Thursday, ready to help with all your sewing, quilting and servicing needs.

LEARN TO SEW IN A DAY

We’ve had so many people ask us about beginner sewing classes, so we’re very excited to finally be able to offer one!

Spaces for this class are extremely limited, so don’t leave it too long if you’ve been wanting to learn!

We’re excited to have the School of Sewing & Upcycling (SOSU) joining us at Heights Sewing Centre for their Learn to Sew in a Day workshop.

It’s a five-hour class designed for absolute beginners, so you really can come along with little or no sewing experience.

You’ll start with the basics — setting up your machine, threading it, getting comfortable with the controls and learning to sew straight lines and curves. Then you’ll put those new skills into practice and make a fully lined tote bag to take home.

And the best part? You don’t need to own a sewing machine. Machines and equipment are provided, along with all the fabric and thread you’ll need for the day. Of course, if you have your own machine and would like to learn on it, you’re welcome to bring it along too.

It’s a great class if you’re completely new to sewing, getting back into it after a few years away, or just want to finally get the confidence to start sewing at home.

By the end of the day you’ll have a finished tote bag, some handy notes to take home and a whole lot more confidence around your sewing machine.
