Yesterday, we received news that has touched the hearts of everyone in the Bash family.
Our dear friend Daryl Braithwaite has announced he is stepping back from live performing after an extraordinary 58 year career in music.
Daryl is not just an artist who has graced our stages. He is family. He performed at the Big Red Bash in 2014, the year the festival moved from the top of the dune to where it stands today and became a two day event. He came back to Big Red Bash in 2018, the year John Farnham headlined. And he joined us again at Big Red Bash in 2021, before bringing his magic to the Mundi Mundi Plains in August 2022 and again in 2024.
Every time he performed out under those big open skies, he reminded us exactly why we do what we do. The connection he has with a crowd is something truly special.
To the Donovan family, and to every single person who has been lucky enough to see Daryl live, this one stings a little. But we celebrate him with so much love and gratitude.
As Daryl said himself: "I have loved the 58 years of being a part of the music industry. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my singing life. Your encouragement, friendship and loyalty have meant so much."

Thank you for your music, your warmth, your generosity, and for making our festivals something people will talk about for the rest of their lives. You gave everything every single time, and we are so honoured to have shared those moments with you and our incredible Bash audiences.
