Stone Dynamics Gallery

Stone Dynamics Gallery Authentic Zimbabwe Stone Sculpture The results were astounding and instantly drew international attention. A wonderful new culture of modern sculpture was born!

Contemporary Zimbabwe Stone Sculpture has its roots in the 1950's when Frank McEwan, the first Director of the Zimbabwe National Gallery, started an art workshop. McEwan was impressed by the exciting and uninhibited work produced by the artists and encouraged them to try sculpting with stone, while teaching them the value of artistic integrity. Sculptors such as Takawira, Munyaradzi, Mukomberanwa

and Mariga earned acclaim from art critics around the world through exhibitions in Africa, Europe and America. Stone Dynamics Gallery was opened in 1987 by Stuart Danks. The gallery provided a much needed platform for younger artists to expose their work internationally, and quickly established itself as a proving ground for artists emerging at that time. His extensive knowledge and experience ensures that customers view and purchase only the very best sculptures - carefully chosen for their originality, creativity and quality.

Celebrating stone artistry—because at Stone Dynamics, we believe every piece carries a story worth telling.

We do what we do to honour the skill, patience, and vision of our artists, and to preserve a craft that is deeply rooted in Zimbabwean heritage. Stone is more than a medium; it is a voice—shaped by hand, guided by tradition, and brought to life through passion.

Each sculpture is a connection between past and present, artist and admirer, nature and creativity. Through our gallery, we share these stories with the world and keep the spirit of stone artistry alive for generations to come.
