The Zimbabwe Jazz Community Trust The Trust aims to revive, promote and preserve Jazz culture in Zimbabwe, providing quality Entertain

The Zimbabwe Jazz Community is an initiative aimed at reviving Jazz Music in Zimbabwe whilst drawing upon the country's long history of rich musical heritage. This is to be achieved by way of Live Performances, studio recordings, workshops and seminars. The initiative is the brainchild of jazz veteran Filbert Marova and is steered by a small, dynamic committee that comprises both jazz artists and

jazz lovers alike. The Vision
To make our country culturally rich and to entertain through the proliferation of Jazz music

The Mission
To increase the skills levels, diffusion of knowledge and popularity of Jazz music in Zimbabwe. Ex*****on
The Zimbabwe Jazz Community stages a series of high quality jazz performances on a weekly basis, which started in the month of May 2016. Hand-picked local jazz artists perform at these themed shows and present well-polished, high quality performances in a family-friendly environment. These jazz performances are an opportunity for both well-known and lesser-known jazz artists to be highlighted. Furthermore, this platform provides an opportunity for jazz lovers to not only experience the best that the country has to offer but to also purchase local Jazz Albums. The organization will also facilitate jazz workshops and seminars periodically and provide a platform for both up-coming and seasoned jazz musicians to sharpen their skills. Members of the public are invited to join the Zimbabwe Jazz Community in order to fully benefit from its activities and further encouraged to spread word of this enriching initiative. Meet our artists for the The Zimbabwe Jazz Festival in Bulawayo this Friday 12th September.

DUDU MANHENGA.

An acclaimed afrojazz singer and composer, Dudu Manhenga delivers jazz in a delightful and exciting style and which has been described as “an Afrojazz adventure” – from traditional African rhythms to bebop, swing and a rainbow of expressions in that genre. With 5 albums and 2 singles to her credit since 2003 she has been welcomed and celebrated, both by Zimbabwean audiences and beyond our borders, through her performances in a dozen countries of the world.

Born and raised in the City of Kings - and Queens! - Dudu has been performing professionally since 1997 at the age of 16, starting out as a backing singer to some of Zimbabwe’s legendary artists, and later in her solo career, performing widely with local artists and those from other countries, too many to be named here.

Considered to be a world-class act, her style is influenced by great African and western jazz singers, and the dignity of her delivery is a credit to her country wherever she goes.

Together with her drummer husband Blessing Muparutsa, Dudu has become a household name in the jazz world of Zimbabwe. Their 6th album is in the studio, and her delivery at the festival can be expected to include fresh creations.
