As a comedian and storyteller, I deliver bold, smart, and unapologetically Zimbabwean humor that entertains, inspires, and connects. SIMUKA is a Shona word which means "stand up". Established in June 2011, Simuka Comedy is a hybrid organization that leverages the power of creativity to contribute towards building an inclusive and democratic society where the potentials and voices of the poor are c
entered and to promote economic growth. Simuka is well-known for creatively mixing the popular with the purposive, creating critical content that challenges toxic social norms. Our range of productions include monthly stand-up comedy shows, audio & video skits and web series that are distributed via various social media platforms and live stage performances. Simuka seeks to preserve a long running comedy hub that empowers young people and the marginalized to freely exercise their artistic excellence. We scout, train, and mentor young comedic talent - providing them with paid performance opportunities. Over the years it has become a place for local comedians both established and upcoming to showcase their great work. Comedians of note that have performed at the comedy night include Edgar Langeveldt , Carl Joshua Ncube, Comrade Fatso ,Michael Kudakwashe, Long John, Bhutisi, Gonyeti, Comic Pastor, Doc Vikela, Kadem the Comic, Tinaye Wayne, Louis Prince of Comedy, Munya, Ckanyiso Dat Guy and Toropito as well as a number of upcoming young comics. Venues that have hosted SIMUKA COMEDY night include The Mannenberg, The Book Café, Alliance Francaise, Jasen Mphepo Little Theatre, Zandis, and currently at the Reps Theatre every last weekend of every month.
