Nobert Mafumhe Mutasa was born on the 15th of February 1947 at Cheninga village in Gutu district.
He did his academics at Kutama Mission. Mutasa's first book Mapatya was published in 1978. It was written 1963 when the author was still in form 2.
Mutasa was a renowned writer and administrator par excellence, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Shurugwi Town Council and later on joined Josiah Magama Tongogara Rural District Council in the same capacity.
Mutasa penned eleven books including the old world trilogy Mapatya, Nhume yaMambo and Misodzi Dikita Neropa. His books were popular as Shona literature study material in schools. His other publications are Chikara Chehasha, Dziva Renjuzu, Runako Munjodzi, Hondo Huru, Benzi Ritsiudze Rodzoka.
Mutasa's last book was Dangerous Journey published by ZPH in the year 2000.
He built his rural empire and the construction comprised of a downstairs dinning, lounge and office the whole infrastructure was marvelously splashed with the national flag colours. Some people referred to it as a rainbow compound.
