Volleyball in Zimbabwe in Serious Trouble πΏπΌ
By: Sports Correspondent
As the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) heads toward its Elective AGM on December 6 in Gwanda, a major controversy has exposed the deep problems affecting the sportβs leadership and governance.
1st Vice President candidate Wayne Dungeni was disqualified for submitting documents late β but he says the vetting process was biased, inconsistent, and selectively applied. He alleges other candidates were allowed to submit after the deadline, yet he wasnβt even contacted.
Dungeni is now calling for:
β‘οΈ Disqualification of Vengai Nyaude
β‘οΈ A full review of the vetting process by an independent panel
β‘οΈ The resignation of Secretary General Priestelege Nhamburo
The dispute has shaken public confidence and revealed deeper issues affecting volleyball in Zimbabwe β poor transparency, selective rule-enforcement, and rising frustration among stakeholders.
Even though the independent adjudicator upheld the disqualification, the controversy has already shown that volleyball governance is in crisis. What should have been a simple election has turned into a warning sign:
π₯ The state of volleyball affairs in Zimbabwe urgently needs fixing.
π₯ Stakeholders are demanding fairness, accountability, and transparency.
π₯ The sport canβt grow if leadership scandals keep overshadowing the game.
As ZVA prepares for its AGM, the big question remains:
π Will this be the moment volleyball finally cleans up its administration and restores trust?
Volleyball deserves better. The players deserve better. The country deserves better.
