APPRECIATION: BULAWAYO ART FAIR: ESSENTIALS FOR EFFECTIVE ART PRACTICE AND MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
The CCA, Bulawayo team would like to thank everyone who managed to attend and for everyone’s active participation and input. Thank you also for bringing your expertise and experience to the meeting and engaging in such fruitful, constructive, and open exchanges throughout the day.

The theme of the workshop is emergent and more work will follow through various activities and dialogues lined up this year.
TAKEAWAYS FROM OUR TIME TOGETHER
• The coming together of key players in the visual arts sector in Bulawayo is a step in the right to create a creative ecosystem, this is the mission of the CCA, Bulawayo.
• CCA, Bulawayo is developing tools to help overcome some of the identified challenges.
• We will be developing a tool that will help contemporary visual artists in Bulawayo to work together and achieve more through capacity-building.
• The CCA, Bulawayo will play a significant role in bringing together relevant activities that support collaborative participation and shape the visual arts scene that we desire.
• The workshop discussions revealed a functional degree of convergence and common needs across the sector, from divergent views.
• I hope we will remain engaged through various platforms and constructively contribute to this new space and process to reap the benefits of all the efforts that went into this exercise. I am sure this will be a worthwhile effort as we heard that many participants are eager to see more action and less talk.
• Last week the CCA, Bulawayo indicated the resumption of the Continuous Curatorial Conversations an online dialogue aimed at promoting a curatorial practice in Bulawayo.

• Work on the creative ecosystem will largely be dependent on your active involvement, the more you share, the more we all get to understand our role and function collectively and individually.
• We encourage you to be open to learning and keeping up with digital technology as more activities are now in that space.
• Our goal is not to rate your performance but to better understand how we can work together and draw key lessons on how to prosper.
NEXT EVENT: BULAWAYO ART TALK
We look forward to welcoming you again soon to the second Bulawayo Art Talk, Nigel Mutare will talk about his practice. Nigel is a twenty-year-old artist, born and raised in the City of Kings & Queens, Nigel emerged into the art scene by participating in the first exhibition he participated at the Alliance Française de Bulawayo titled Art Escapes and Fashion Show. Nigel is strongly invested in art and the creative side of things and is intrigued by various aspects of art. He has found comfort in telling stories through the use of charcoal and pencils. Through his work, Nigel hopes to touch many lives and have a positive impact on the world.
“I believe starting the year with this workshop will become a game changer in different aspects of my creative process and boost my mentality on many other things that will assist me in achieving my goals in the industry. What I am expecting from this event/ workshop is to come out a refined person, fine-tuned to take on the challenges in the industry by the horns and be a success story for the next generation.”
