Five Arrested for Illegal Fuel Vending

Five more suspects have been apprehended in the Eastern province in connection with illegal fuel vending in Chipata and Lundazi districts.

Police have also seized a total of 1,420 litres of Petrol and two vehicles in Chipata and a motorbike in Lundazi.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, ROBERTSON MWEEMBA has confirmed the development adding that other suspects managed to escape during the police operation.

Mr MWEEMBA has explained that in Lundazi, fuel vendors are using motorbikes to ferry the fuel to border areas before it is taken to Malawi.

He has warned that police will continue with the fuel operations until the trend is stopped.

SUSPECT DETAINED OVER AI-GENERATED ARMY UNIFORM IMAGE

The Zambia Police Service has detained a 19-year-old man in connection with an alleged identity theft and impersonation case involving an AI-generated image.

Police say Daudi Ngambi of John Howard Compound in Lusaka allegedly created and circulated an image showing musician Charles Chomba dressed in a Zambia Army uniform bearing the rank of Brigadier General.

The matter was reported at Kabwata Police Station on October 6, 2026. Police, working with Military Police, apprehended Ngambi, who remains in custody as investigations continue.

Police have warned the public against creating or sharing manipulated content involving security institutions, saying it may attract criminal liability
