Alliance Française de Lusaka is a local non-profit organization situated in Long Acres along Alick Nkhata Road. It has been present in Zambia since 1972 as a part of a significative network of over 800 Alliances Française set up in over 130 countries all around the world. Our institution is strongly connected to the French Embassy in Zambia and has the 2 other branches in Ndola and Livingstone. Ou

r main goals are promoting the French language, francophone/french culture, and cross-cultural exchange. We offer constantly french courses for kids, adults and companies, as well as international certifications (DELF/DALF) valid all over the world. We also propose courses of local languages such as bemba, nyanja and english classes. We can provide well-trained translators and interpreters for international summits and conferences as well as official documents. Director

WEDNESDAY FILM SCREENING 📽️😄

This week’s film is La Nuit des rois ( Night of the Kings) is a 2020 drama film written and directed by Philippe Lacôte. Set inside La MACA—a notorious prison deep in the Ivorian forest ruled entirely by its inmates—the story follows a young newcomer forced to act as a traditional storyteller (roman) through a night of a red moon to save his life.

SYNOPSIS:
A young man is sent to « La Maca », a prison in the middle of the Ivorian forest ruled by its inmates. As tradition goes with the rising of the red moon, he is designated by the Boss to be the new « Roman » and must tell a story to the other prisoners. Learning what fate awaits him, he begins to narrate the mystical life of the legendary outlaw named « Zama King » and has no choice but to make his story last until dawn.

We welcomed The Military Training Establishment of Zambia ( MILTEZ) last week on a tour of the Alliance Française of Lusaka.

The students who are also studying the French language at The MILTEZ in Kabwe spent the morning touring and engaging with our facilities.

WE’RE GOING ON A BREAK!

Please note that the Alliance Française will be closed from 27th July to 3rd August as the team will be taking a short break.
There won’t be any events or classes, the art gallery as well as restaurant will be closed too.
All the classes and services will resume on Tuesday, August 4th.

Matiuda chose the word “Chisomo” ( Mercy in Nyanja ). She is a catholic and told me that she believes that god is merciful. I started painting this wall on Sunday, a day where many people are at church. For a large part of the day, we could hear an excellent choir and a band playing in a church just a few meters away. ~
