WHEN YOU SUBTRACT INTIMACY FROM A RELATIONSHIP, WHAT IS LEFT?

One thing I have noticed about many relationships today is that intimacy has slowly replaced the very foundation that should hold two people together.

Partners no longer seem to have enough shared goals, dreams, friendship, values or purpose to put their heads together and build something meaningful.

Sometimes, even when a relationship becomes toxic, people are afraid to walk away because they are afraid of losing the intimacy they get from their partner.

And perhaps that is where we have lost something important.

Intimacy should be a beautiful part of a relationship, not the reason you remain in one.

Because when the physical connection becomes the strongest thing keeping two people together, what happens when that disappears?

Can you still sit together and talk?
Can you still laugh together?
Can you still support each other’s dreams?
Can you still build together?
Can you still choose each other when there is nothing physical to gain?

A relationship should be more than what happens behind closed doors.

If you remove intimacy, there should still be a friendship, a purpose, a partnership, a home and a reason to choose each other.
