Afro M-sydo : "My Friends Are Not My Target Audience" — Why Real Support Goes Beyond Streams
Lusaka, Zambia Zambian Afro R&B, Swing and Fusion artist Afro M-sydo is sparking a conversation about what it really means to support an artist.
In a candid post shared to his page, the "Dwell In Moments" artist broke down the difference between passive streaming and active support.
> "My friends are not my target audience.
> Even if all my friends streamed my music 100 times a day which is pretty much impossible it still wouldn't change everything.
> But if those same friends mentioned my name in rooms full of opportunity, recommended me when it mattered, or thought of me every time a chance came up... that could change my life.
> That's the kind of support that moves the needle."
Afro M-sydo went on to say he’d rather have people who help build while he’s still "on the come up" than wait until he’s made it to say "I always knew you could do it."
"This isn't me feeling entitled. I genuinely believe most people don't know how to support an artist. They think support starts with streaming."
The statement comes ahead of the release of his new EP "Dwell In Moments", set to drop on August 29, 2026. The project promises visuals and sounds that blend Afro R&B, Swing, and Fusion, with behind-the-scenes content from his single "Babili" already rolling out.
For Afro M-sydo, the goal is clear: build a community that believes early
