Very grateful to have been invited to Hone FM Radio, to speak about Entrepreneurial Leadership and what it means in the Zambian 🇿🇲 Context for the girl child.

It is an undeniable fact that girls, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, are constantly facing barriers to acquiring a dignified education and career.

I believe we all are people for others, and we have a responsibility to create positive change in our communities and by extension the country. I admire how we have the amazing privilege of free education in our country, the next step should now be to question;

đź’ˇ 1. What is the quality of education that a 2026 Zambian should be acquiring?

đź’ˇ 2. What skills can we impart in young people intentionally to ensure that they are educated enough to be practical ethical leaders who are creating positive change TODAY and not TOMORROW?

đź’ˇ 3. As young people, what is our role in advancing development?

Let’s keep these conversations going and keep doing better for our future generations.

Thank you so much for having Hone FM, my first radio interview 🤭 waiting on more to come!

I have a lot of stories to tell from Ghana…

I was privileged enough to have visited Ghana in February of 2026 as an initiative with Georgetown University in Qatar to mark the 100th year of celebrating and honoring Black History Month.

I don’t think there could have been a better fit than Ghana 🇬🇭 to explore my History and Identity as a black person. And all I can say since I came back is “Ghana changed my life” and that is not an understatement.

Ghana is so rich in many things; knowledge, culture, black pride and of course an unfortunate history of Slavery and Slave trade đź’”.

One thing that stood out to me was how for every excursion we took, we had very young people as our guides. They were very learned and told us of history as if it was a song they played each morning. I admired their ability to speak about this dark part of their history with so much ownership and passion.

💭 I could not stop thinking; as the rest of Africa, what lessons can we from Ghana 🇬🇭? How can we have a young people that is so passionate about their history and find avenues to share it in a manner that is so informed? 📚 What role does formal education play in all this?

đź’ˇ This is so because history and stories are very important. And it is just as important as who tells it. Because whoever tells it, holds the power.

Recently there has been a trending video that has brought so many mixed emotions from the public and I found it very interesting.

It goes to show that so much work has to be done in protecting children in our communities from different forms of abuse. How much do we know about Consent, Grooming, Abuse and Assault and in the case of children, defilement?

In light of the worldwide online protest, in solidarity with women in South Africa and the continent at large, let us have a discussion of what GBV is according to Zambian law. NKANII

Today we celebrate KK Day! 🎊

As we honor our first president and freedom fighters, it’s only right we reflect on how colonialism still affects us today through a concept called 💡 neocolonialism — when outside powers still control us in new ways.

What are your thoughts on this? How can we reshape history today and have Zambians who are proud to be African?

Youth voices matter in every room, especially in local government where real change begins. It’s time to break the cycle of exclusion and bring young minds to the table of leadership and policy-making. We’re not the leaders of tomorrow — we are the leaders of today.

08/04/2025

🚀 How do we break the cycle?

We start with the truth. đź’ˇ

Teen pregnancies. Child marriages. S*xual violence. These aren’t just “social issues.” They’re real lives, real futures, being derailed every day.

And yet, we still hesitate to talk about s*x in our schools. Not because it’s not needed, but because we’ve been taught that silence is safer. But silence has never saved anyone. EDUCATION 📚 does.

It’s time for Zambia to include comprehensive s*x education in our classrooms — the kind that teaches not just about bodies, but about boundaries, consent, respect, and choice. Because when young people know better, they do better.

Let’s invest in a future where knowledge protects, uplifts, and empowers.

Zambia’s reentry policy for young mothers is a step in the right direction but policy alone isn’t enough. Access to education is important but so is access to real support—childcare, financial aid, and resources that make reintegration sustainable. If we want to see these young women thrive, we need to think beyond just getting them back in the classroom.

What are your thoughts? Let’s have this conversation

Victim blaming is the easiest way to protect predators, and I’m so tired of seeing it happen over and over again. We need to SHIFT the focus back where it belongs, on the ABUSER!. But beyond just calling it out, we need real action;

How are our cultures still protecting abusers instead of survivors? How are we okay with leaving such a huge gap in education that people grow up thinking a child’s abuse could ever be their fault?

Women cannot live in fear forever, We need real protection. We need real education. Because the world keeps telling girls to be careful, but when will we start telling men to be better? Enough is enough.

Hey guys! 👋 My name is Nelly, and I’m the founder of Kukweza—a platform dedicated to empowering young people through education and leadership.

I’ve been working in the education space for a while now because I truly believe that young people have the power to shape the future of Zambia. ✨Through my work, I hope to inspire more of us to think big, challenge the system, and create real change. This is just the beginning, and I’m so excited to take you all on this journey with me!

Kicking off my new series where we, the young people, imagine what we’d do if we were running the country! It’s all about thinking outside the box, having fun, and speaking on the changes we want to see. Mostly importantly, it’s about respect and understanding that as young leaders, we have power in our voices to communicate what change we hope to see in our communities.

Who knows? Maybe someone out there is listening 👀✨Drop your innovative ideas in the comments! 🗣️👇
