Former President Edgar Lungu’s body will now be at a different funeral home, Avbob. This comes after both parties have agreed to wait until the finalization of the Supreme Court of Appeal process of appeal by the family. This is expected to take place in May.

The initial funeral home, Two Mountains, wrote to the family, stating that they were no longer ready to accept the body.

Zambian Breweries Plc has reduced prices on Mosi, Mosi Light, Eagle and Eagle Extra products.

The adjustments are as follows: Mosi 750ml RGB from K275 to K240; Mosi Light 330ml RGB from K280 to K240; Eagle 750ml RGB from ZMW170 to ZMW160; and Eagle Extra 375ml RGB from ZMW225 to ZMW180.

Zambian Breweries Country Director, Thais Cavinatto says the decision follows encouraging developments in the operating environment over recent months, including easing inflationary pressures and relative stability in the foreign exchange market.

‘‘Improved energy availability and a more stable power supply have strengthened brewing operations and reduced production volatility, while favourable government policies continue to support a balanced and competitive framework that promotes affordability, compliance and long-term industry sustainability,’’ Ms Cavinatto has said.

As economic conditions stabilise, Zambian Breweries says that responsible businesses have a duty to ensure that the benefits of improved macroeconomic and policy measures are passed directly on to consumers.

In response to these developments, the company has implemented price reductions across selected products within its Mosi and Eagle portfolios.

Ms Cavinatto says the price adjustments reflect the company’s commitment to responsible corporate stewardship and national partnership.

“When the operating environment improves, the benefits should not stop at business; they must reach the consumer. This price rollback reflects Zambian Breweries’ commitment to affordability, our communities, and supporting Zambia’s economic progress,” Ms Cavinatto says.

She also says that affordability plays an important role in addressing illicit alcohol consumption, which accounts for approximately 72 percent of total alcohol consumption in Zambia.

“When regulated products become unaffordable, consumers are more likely to shift to unsafe, unregulated alternatives.

By keeping Eagle and Eagle Extra accessible, we are contributing to broader efforts to reduce illicit trade, protect public health, and safeguard domestic revenue,” Ms Cavinatto says.
