OUR CULTURAL DAY CELEBRATION-A DAY TO REMEMBER
By Daka A.
Friday, 3rd July, 2026, was a day our school will never forget. Our Cultural Day was filled with laughter, colour, and pride. Learners from Forms 1A to 2C, supported by their senior brothers and sisters in Grades 10 to 12, put together a wonderful celebration of Zambia's rich traditions. The school grounds turned into a happy stage of culture and unity.
The day was bright with beautiful traditional outfits, lively drumming, and energetic dancing. Everyone was excited, and the air was full of joy.
Form 1A showcased the Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people. They wore lovely misisi skirts and danced to traditional Lozi songs. It was a happy sight to see.
Form 1B brought the Bemba culture to life with the Ukusefya Pang'wena ceremony. They wore colourful chitenge wraps and beads. Their performance was full of energy, and everyone loved their powerful dancing.
Form 1C amazed us with the Nc'wala ceremony of the Ngoni people. They wore headbands and leopard-skin bands. Their Ingoma dance was strong and proud. It was a moving and beautiful moment.
Form 2A gave us a lovely show of the Lwindi ceremony from the Tonga people. They wore colourful clothes. Their gentle dance and sweet singing made everyone feel warm inside.
Form 2B thrilled the crowd with the Umutomboko ceremony of the Lunda people. Dressed like royalty, they performed with great courage and royal pride. Everyone danced with joy.
Form 2C presented the Likumbi Lyamizye ceremony of the Luvale people. They wore beautiful makishi costumes and raffia skirts. Their dances told stories of spirits and ancestors, leaving us all in wonder.
After all the performances, everyone went back to their classrooms to share the traditional meals they had prepared. Each class had cooked a special dish from the ceremony they had presented. The smell of food filled the school, and the laughter of friends eating together made the day even sweeter.
When the day came to an end, we all felt proud to be Zambian. Our Cultural Day was not just about dressing up and dancing – it was about learning who we are, respecting each other, and loving our beautiful country. Every class did a fantastic job, and we all left with big smiles and full hearts.
Thank you to all the students, teachers, and parents who made this day so special. Let us always carry our culture with love and pride.
