Art exhibitions are not only a great way to showcase creativity but also an accessible medium for the public to learn about and discuss sociopolitical and historical issues. Over the years, we have hosted many of them with established and emerging artists, and we believe that Livingstone could be a great hub for art shows of various scales. We invite you to join us on this journey.

Last chance to apply for the Mosi Oa Tunya Perennial in Livingstone! 🎭🎨🖌

Do you consider yourself a promising emerging artist? Then we're calling on you, no matter your art discipline, to apply for the Mosi oa Tunya Perennial, which will run from September 2026 to January 2027.

The Mosi oa Tunya Perennial is an international mega art exhibition inspired by large biennial models but rooted in regional histories of movement, exchange, and transitory encounter. It asks how an international exhibition structure might be imagined through the perennial corridors of animals and people in Southern Africa—routes that have long exceeded regulatory borders and immigration laws.

Follow the link below or scan the QR code in the poster to submit your portfolios and apply! DEADLINE: 31st MAY 2026.

The LoCA Mini-lab ran from 2019 and evolved into the LoCA Studio Program in 2024. We regularly invite emerging artists, writers, and curators to apply to the program, which has an international faculty of practising artists, art historians, curators, and writers who guide participants in artistic practices, curatorial studies and professional development. Some of our alumni have gone on to do many wonderful things, including starting galleries, showing work at the Berlin Biennale, winning the Prince Claus SEED Award, and much more. Keep an eye on our social media for news and announcements!

Join us online on Wednesday, 13th May 2026, for a special conversation on decolonisation with Sabelo J. Ndlovu-Gatsheni. Brought to you in collaboration with LabARD (Laboratoire d’art et de recherche décoloniaux).

The talk will be themed around Ndlovu-Gatsheni's paper, 'The Dynamics of Epistemological Decolonisation in the 21st Century: Towards Epistemic Freedom', which explores how Africa, in particular and the rest of the Global South in general became victims of genocides, epistemicides, linguicides, and culturecides. It also highlights how the colonised refused to succumb to the ‘silences’ and fought for epistemic freedom. The discussion will suggest actionable ways forward in the African struggles for epistemic freedom, including learning to unlearn in order to relearn.

Sabelo J. Ndlovu-Gatsheni is a historian and leading decolonial theorist who holds a Canada Research Chair in Pluralistic Societies—Epistemic Pluralism and Ecologies of Knowledges at the University of Calgary. His work on epistemic freedom, Black Marxist thought, and knowledge decolonisation has shaped debates across African studies and decolonial scholarship.

DM us to register for the event and receive a link to join the conversation. 13th May 2026 CAT.

Yesterday, we had a gathering in Lusaka to introduce the Mosi oa Tunya Perennial. The gathering had a good mix of people in attendance, with artists, representatives of galleries, alternative art spaces, art collectors, as well as private and corporate entities.

We want to emphasise that the Mosi oa Tunya Perennial--a large-format international art show we have planned for September 2026--needs local ownership and buy-in from Zambian artists, art institutions, galleries, etc. We welcome potential partners, suggestions and thoughts on how we can all make this a success.

Thank you to the Zambia National Visual Arts Council and the Henry Tayali Art Gallery for hosting this discussion. Thank you to all who came. Please look out for more updates!
