DAY 3/5 | GRANTEES WORKSHOP
It was another enriching day of learning, reflection, and knowledge sharing. We continue to explore a range of important topics designed to keep our grantees informed, equipped, and better prepared to navigate the work they are doing in their communities. Bakashana believes that a well-informed generation is a successful generation. When young people have access to the right information, they are better positioned to make informed decisions, lead with confidence, identify opportunities, and create meaningful change.

We continue to learn, share, and grow together—because informed grantees become stronger leaders, and stronger leaders build stronger comunities. Grateful to our support team always.

Day 2/5 of our Grantees Workshop with 9th Graders (Form 2) was another great success! Today brought out meaningful conversations around financial literacy, health, safeguarding issues, and navigating the social challenges affecting young people in various ways. These conversations are important in shaping the next generation of leaders- especially those in school. We add always grateful for your continued support.

Day 1/5 of our Grantee's Workshop!
As our students prepare to return to school, we bring them together for a workshop every last week of the school break, one day per grade. This is a time of learning, reflection and encouragement. A reminder that their dreams matter, and they have what it takes to keep going. Today we had a great time with our 8th graders ( form 1)!!

Last Friday, we joined the community outreach in Chiba, led by Youth Voices Against HIV – Edition One, under the theme “Know Your Status, Protect Your Future.” The outreach offered HIV/AIDS testing and counselling, STIs screening, family planning services and condom distribution. We had a great experience being part of the outreach and interacting with the community, and it was encouraging to see the level of awareness people have around HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. A big thank you to our GLOWBFC coaches for showing up and supporting the activity the way they did. Your commitment to the work really matters. Please be encouraged to test for HIV and live healthy❤️

We had a successful August Under-Five clinic. This is where we monitor children’s growth, provide immunisations, and check their nutrition status using MUAC.

Unfortunate, some parents are not consistent in bringing their children for these important services, and this can affect the early identification of health, growth and nutrition challenges. We therefore encourage Mothers and caregivers living within our catchment to make these visits a priority and bring their children regularly- It's a free service we are giving to the community in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

This activity also reminds us to continue showing love and respect to our mothers. We believe supporting mothers and ensuring children receive timely care is an important step towards raising healthy children and building a healthier community.

Rediscovering Joy in Simply Being
When we think about recreation, we often think about young people. Yet, as adults, we also need spaces where we can simply pause, connect, create and enjoy ourselves without everything having to be about productivity or making money.

Our Women’s Knitting Club at our Resource Centre is a reminder that not everything we do has to generate profit. Sometimes, we simply need to do what makes us happy. As we grow older, many of us slowly forget the things that brought us joy as children. For many adults ( not just women), life becomes filled with responsibilities, working, providing, caring for others and meeting expectations. Before we realize it, we are constantly living for everyone else and rarely make time to simply enjoy being ourselves.

For mothers especially, the responsibilities can be overwhelming, and many have very few spaces where they can step away from the demands of home, connect with others and breathe.That is why creating spaces like this matters. Knitting is not just about making something; it is about creating a moment of peace, friendship, laughter and personal fulfilment.

Bakashana believes women deserve spaces where they can be more than caregivers and providers. They deserve moments to rest, recreate, rediscover themselves and do something simply because it makes them happy.

Sometimes, happiness does not need a price tag. Sometimes, it is simply found in doing what you love even if it's once in a while. Love to all our mothers.

A NEW WEEK OF GRATITUDE
Every new day is a reminder to pause, give thanks, and appreciate the gift of life and the opportunity to keep making a difference in any way we can❤️.

Last week was particularly special as we celebrated the dedication and contribution of our GLOWBFC Life Skills Club Coaches. Each coach received a certificate of recognition in appreciation of the different ways they have contributed to this work and to the lives of the young people we serve.

We also took a moment to celebrate together with a beautiful braai party at Chishimba Waterfalls. Beyond the certificates, it was a celebration of friendship, growth, teamwork, resilience and the journey we have shared.

A certificate may be a simple piece of paper, but behind every certificate is a story of commitment, sacrifice, consistency, hope and lives touched. We are proud of each one of our coaches and grateful for the impact they have continued to make through this work.

As we begin this new week, may we remain hopeful, purposeful and open to what life has in store for each of us and our work. There is still so much work to do, so many lives to touch, and so much good to be done in different ways but we have to stay open minded.

Here’s to a new week, new possibilities, love, hope, and continued impact. 💛

Protecting Children Through Prompt Action and Community Reporting
A recent case involving the alleged sexual abuse of a Ten (10) year old child in a community in Kasama highlights the importance of prompt reporting, community vigilance, and coordinated survivor-centered response.

Taken away from her home, the suspect took advantage of her innoncence and lured her to his small house and abused her. After community members became aware of the incident, the matter was reported to the relevant authorities. With support from Lawyers Without Borders, Bakashana Organization in collaboration with One Stop Centre, Victim Support Unit -Zambia police and Bakashana Basambilile, responded promptly. The child was taken for medical examination and appropriate care, while the alleged perpetrator was taken into police custody for further legal proceedings.

The response demonstrates the vital role that communities play in protecting children collectively. Reporting concerns early can help ensure that children receive timely medical, psychosocial and legal support, while allowing authorities to take appropriate action.
Let us continue working together to create communities where every child is protected from sexual abuse and where concerns are reported without delay.

Play time means joy time! 💙
Our children at Place Of Happiness enjoyed a sensory water play session while learning how to clean and take care of their toys.

Children with disabilities are often left out of learning basic chores because society assumes they are unable. We believe they are capable because disability is not an inability. They simply need the opportunity, patience, and support to learn just like it is with well abled children.

Moments like these remind us why play is so important for growth, happiness, and teamwork.

Through play, children explore colors, textures, and problem-solving while having fun. We believe every child deserves moments of joy, care, dignity, and quality time.
