A New Leaf for Mukuyu Tree

A sense of excitement has filled the air. Mrs Besnart Mwanza- Assistant Director communications from Bank of Zambia
led by the dignified Acting Town Clerk for Kabwe Municipal Council Mr Changwe and Director Public Health Mr. Christopher Mtonga, arrived at Mukuyu Tree a historic landmark poised for a grand transformation. The once-neglected site is now buzzing with activity yet to be established .
its worn walls and gardens undergoing a vibrant rebirth.

The team was there to assess the rehabilitation progress, paving the way for Mukuyu Tree's official opening as an Arts Exhibition Center and the team walked through the grounds, they were struck by the stunning murals, sculptures, and installations. Every corner told a story of Kabwe's rich history, culture, and resilience. The air is alive with the sounds of chiseling, painting, and laughter.

The assessment was thorough, with the team scrutinizing every detail. But it was clear that Mukuyu Tree is ready to shine. The Bank of Zambia's nod of approval would unlock the doors to a new era of artistic expression, community engagement, and economic growth.

With smiles and handshakes, the team confirmed Mukuyu Tree's readiness. The official opening will be set, and the people of Kabwe eagerly await the unveiling of their beloved landmark's new chapter as a beacon of creativity and pride.

BoZ came on 11th June 2024 to assess the level of rehabilitation at Mukuyu tree in readness for official opening of mukuyu tree as an Arts exhibition center.

On the 21st of February, PPZ ( Premier Pixel Zambia Ltd) a Tourism Digital Media Organisation held a Graduation ceremony for some Youths in Kabwe who participated in a Two Weeks Training program at the Mapalo Centre.

The program aimed to empower Youths in Integrated Tourism Mobile Skills such as:-

> Tourism and leisure seeking
> ICT and Internet Tourism
> Digital Media and Journalism
> Projects planning and management
> Digital Photography and Camera handling. ( For
self - starter jobs)
The organisation further intends to select amoung the trainees, Tourism Networking Agents (TNA's) who in turn will be trainers of trainees ( TOT).

The briefings, enrolment and subsequent training was free of charge.
Entry requirements needed was a hard cover book and pen with no age limit but must have completed grade 12.

Due to the popularity and successful hosting of the program, CHOC has kindly requested PPZ to run the program once again during the coming months. Many Youths were unable to participate in the training due to inadequate publicity.

We hope to engage not less than a hundred Youths in the next program.

The Youths will be able to benefit from the training by empowering them with knowledge and skills to be able to set up Tourism based companies.

Formulate,design and market Tourism packages and merchandise on the Internet using specially designed apps.
Will keep you updated on the details and dates for the next training program.
