Don't pay on a debt before you feed your family.

YOU are more important than a debt getting paid. The loved ones that depend on you are more important than a debt getting paid. You've got to prioritize the spending in your budget. No one else will do that for you.

Cover THESE expenses FIRST...

1. Food
2. Utilities
3. Shelter
4. Transportation

👆 In that specific order.

Then, once you've taken care of those 4 things (I call them the 4 Walls), you can plan to spend in other areas like making payments on debt.

If you're in a tough spot right now, remember, it doesn't matter how mean the debt collectors are, or how many calls and letters you've gotten from them. Taking care of basic needs must come first.

Years back, every day on my way home from work, I used to give a N1,000 to some Beggar. Over time, I reduced it and started to give him N500. Eventually, I only gave him N50. Two days ago, the beggar asked me why I kept reducing the amount to the present N20.

I told him: I used to give you N1,000 because I was single then. So I had enough to share! Then I got married and could only manage to give you N500. Later I had two kids. So with more expenses at home, I started to give you N20.

The begger looked at me for a while, blinked twice shaking his head and said;

So you mean you're NOW supporting your family using MY MONEY?
