As a professional piercer, here’s why piercing guns are NOT safe, and why a proper hollow needle is the right choice every time.
💥 Blunt Force Trauma
A gun doesn’t pierce it forces a blunt earring through your tissue, causing:
• Major trauma
• Extra swelling
• Longer healing
• Higher risk of scarring and keloids
A needle is sharp and hollow, meaning it creates a clean channel.
Less trauma = a safer, smoother healing process.
📉 Training Behind Guns
Most gun users get:
• Very basic training
• No anatomy knowledge
• No sterilisation education
• No jewellery sizing/material training
Professional piercers train for months to years, learning anatomy, hygiene, and proper technique.
🦠 Hygiene Matters
Piercing guns cannot be sterilised in an autoclave.
They trap blood, skin and fluids wiping them with alcohol does NOTHING to fully sterilise them.
Professional studios use:
• Autoclaved tools
• Sterile, single-use needles
• Medical-grade jewellery
⚠️ Chattering & Swelling
Guns often “chatter” (bounce or hit repeatedly), which shreds the tissue.
This leads to painful swelling, bumps, embedding and difficult healing.
🍀 “Mine healed fine…”
Some people got lucky that’s all.
For every one “good experience,” I’ve seen thousands of:
• Infections
• Embedded studs
• Torn lobes
• Hypertrophic bumps
• Allergic reactions
One good result doesn’t make the method safe.
🔍 Think of it like this
Get pierced by a professional piercer, and you can come back with ANY issue and we know how to help you fix it.
Get pierced with a gun, go back with a problem…
and they’ll tell you:
"You need to go to a piercer or a doctor."
That alone should tell you everything you need to know.
✨ Your body deserves safe piercing.
Choose sterile techniques, proper jewellery, and trained professionals.
Choose needles!!!
