The Quiet Pull

Never one to paint the sea, I found myself unexpectedly drawn to the coastline after relocating to Stillbaai. The quiet rhythm and vastness of the ocean became more than landscape — it became invitation. Through shifting tides, light and shoreline, The Quiet Pull reflects a deepening awareness of creation and the magnitude, beauty and presence of God revealed within it.

It's been a chaotic few months. Packing up and moving from a town I've lived in for 56 years, to a new adventure in Still Bay. I've been a bit shell shocked with the downscaling, unpacking - and realising I have too much stuff- to renovations.

Needless to say I've not been able to paint. Emotionally it has been a huge adjustment. No friends, very small town living and the slowness of life and getting things done.

I decided that I had to make an effort to get to my happy place and joined a watercolour workshop hosted by Louise Bowden. What a great day! Meeting new people and learning new techniques from Louise.

My newest watercolour painting from the shores of Still Bay is a sunbird. They seem to be plentiful in this area.

S.O.S

The last month and a half has been a little chaotic. I needed a break from my busy schedule to do something fun. I experimented with some new mixed media elements including watercolour and S.O.S was created. I had so much fun with this one.

The African Penguin is on the critically endangered list. Their population has dropped by 97% due to, primarily food shortages.

I came across this quote and it is so apt. Art should bring up an emotion, a feeling, not necessarily good only, but a shift within you. Art inspires me, excites me, makes me explore and is a safe haven for my emotions. Does art make you feel better?🧑‍🎨
