"People often associate being buried with death.
I don’t see it that way.
Being buried, can be a transition.
Lay still long enough to become a friend of the silence
Lay sleep long enough to dream out loud.
Dream beyond the dark. See the light.
The thing is, being buried, keeps you comfortable.
Six feet deep, while life happens above you
Without you.
No one wondering where you are,
Remembering you,
only it’s the you that’s being kept down by the memory of who you used to be." -Last Night I Created.

I swear it's not as bleak as it sounds:)

"How do I teach myself, to love what wants to love me.
How do I teach myself, that what doesn't love me, doesn't take away from my own.
And man...where do I find God through it?"
- a journal entry to come back to.

Anyway. Here's to trying to get out of six months of writing block.

You: You are troubled. What troubles you?

Noma: Why do you ask what you already know?

You: Because if I spoke what I already know, this wouldn't be a dialogue. I desire conversation. What you perceive as curiosity is simply my invitation to you unveiling the Mystery. Speak your trouble.

Noma: Woe is me. I am a friend of grief.

"Woe is Me" is out now on substack. Link in bio.

I remember the day I wrote this. I was 16, visiting some family. I was working through a lot of inner turmoil. Learning a lot about my family, and who I was, and wher I fit in and where I didn't. Back then around family and strangers (sometimes this would be the same thing), I was a dangerously quiet individual. Not much to say, but a lot to think about. And subsequently, always having a lot to write about.

Grateful I hung in there. My tongue is more generous in my adulthood. But my pen, hasn't quite humbled itself.

"It comes back in waves,
I tell myself I am over you,
I pick myself up, dust myself off from the remnants of you I let stick on me.
I walk it off, I walk you off.
I remove you like my favourite dress that no longer fits.
I tell myself I have made it.
I have seen what it looks like on the other side of you."- Waves (pg 40)

is now also available in ebook/pdf. Yes...I listen to you guys😂

To my international readers, forgive me. Abeg.

Much love,

Your friendly neighborhood poet

Why I spend all my time alone...

I'll slowly be transitioning from being "mindofthewriter" to my government name, Nomagugu Moyo. I have grown into myself as an individual and as a writer, and I want you guys involved as I navigate how that looks like.
It's hard. But its time. Comment your love and encouragement below. I could really use some.

Love,
Noma.

"So what then do we say of all these things, the past carries our story in the bookshelves I often revisit. What a tale of love and woe." A poet's proverb. I greet the ocean in the name of love, gratitude, and the stories I have written at her feet. I exhale the tragedy of being a poet who has served joy and pain and all things in between, and then, I kindly ask my heart to be still....
