AZURE DREAMS // Imagine a place where the sky and landscape speak in vibrant blues and emerald greens, where trees linger along the edge of a stream, and light moves gently across the horizon.

This is a place I call Azure Dreams.

A landscape shaped by freedom — to wander, to notice, to rest in the simple beauty of nature and the Creator’s work.

This is the feeling I wanted to capture in this original painting, with vibrant colours, balanced to bring a quiet, peaceful joy to a space.

My process of beginning a painting always starts off with loose and free paint brush strokes, first adding colour and worrying about how the shapes and details blend together to form the landscape I have in mind later.

A NEW SEASON BEGINS // Mood Forest is changing.

What started as a hobby during COVID times has evolved into an art practice and eventually into a small business. For the last few months I have been thinking of what this means to me and how I want to go forward.

Changing my studio name to my actual (sur)name is what made the most sense. It feels like establishing something new, but also coming home to what already existed.

What's coming:
- New Studio name, social media name
- New Website COMING TOMORROW 19.3.2026
- More landscape paintings but also sharing more of my illustratation experiments
- Documenting my continued learning journey into beter drawing and design
- Regular print drops

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and Mood Forest over the last few years. I hope you continue this journey with me.

PS: The technical side of rebranding is a much more tedious task than I thought. Please be patient with me as I work through transitioning websites, my shop and updated studio emails.

I had so much fun painting this small and bright landscape for a recent commission client.

It reminded me that I really enjoy painting smaller pieces that still have a lot to say regardless of their size. And they tend to fill up those small and awkward empty spaces on a wall with a pop of joy 😊

I've been so busy with website backend stuff and haven't had too much time for painting, but I think I'll do some more of these once I get a chance!

It’s about that quiet moment when hope feels close again. When new things begin to bloom.

The landscape gives a sense of peace, a warm welcome in white, yellow and pink — like love that feels steady rather than overwhelming 🌸

A new year, gently beginning 🌻

'In Peace' was inspired by the cool blues, fresh greens, and soft light of the countryside — a landscape painting created to feel open, steady, and unforced. With its rolling fields, distant hills, and a sky that moves slowly, it felt like the right piece to return to 2026 with.

As this year starts moving, I’m wishing you a deep sense of peace — the kind that settles your heart and creates space to listen, reflect, and grow. Peace as something lived, not rushed, but grounded and hopeful.

There are some exciting changes ahead for me this year — new artworks, new directions and projects, and a continued focus on creating beautiful art that brings light into everyday spaces. I’m looking forward to sharing what’s coming with you.

I've been working on some new landscape paintings over the last few weeks that will be available later this month exhibition at Kamers in the winelands 😊

This is the smallest one of them all and features my favorite shade of pink: Opera Rose

I paired it together with a golden yellow to illuminate the horizon line just as the sun dips low. It's called 'In the Light'. I just got it back from the framers am really loving the bright vibe it brings 🌈

HAPPY SPRING 🌻 // Here's a throwback photo to when I was painting "A Trio of Trees" in a lovely garden close to my home in Stellenbosch 🌿

I enjoy being out in nature but I have to admit, I find making art outside still a bit daunting. I tend to keep images of things that inspire me in my head and only put them down on paper once I am back home with all my paint tubes and brushes 🎨

"A Trio of Trees" is a simple landscape painting, drawing inspiration from the green trees in the garden and the clouds overhead on that day.

Now that the season is changing to one more colourful and warmer I should maybe try painting outside again...🤭

COUNTRYSIDE MEANDER // Imagine a place where you can only BE in a moment. A moment in nature where you can drink in the sounds of a meandering stream and feel the breeze playing across the coutryside. Here you don't have to DO, hustle or be distracted.

This is the feeling I wanted to capture as moment on paper in this painting. Kind of as a permanent reminder caught in paint and color that you can give yourself the permission to slow down and just BE, even for a few moments in a day 🌿
