THE GOLDEN FIELD // A moody winter landscape tucked in under the clouds where the sun creates pockets of warm yellow light.

This painting came to life slowly, first with the abstract shapes of the mountains and trees, then the shadows cast by the clouds, and finally a brightening up with yellow and blue. It creates a feeling of coziness while at the same time a feeling of drifting far away.

This cloudscape painting has already found a home, but I wanted to share it here as a glimpe into what I have been creating in the studio lately 😊

CLOUDSCAPES // A small collection inspired by winter skies, drifting clouds and the ever-changing light they cast across the landscape.

These four paintings have quietly kept me company over the last few months and I am delighted to share them with you 😊

The painting process took a bit longer than usual because I created and prepared my own canvas panels for this. There really is joy to be found in the process of making things from nothing, at least for me 🌻

I just loved experimemting with shadows and soft clouds and will definetly continue painting more cloudscapes like these.

SLOWING DOWN the process // I have invested in some raw canvas and a staple gun and started to stretch my own canvas panels on cradle board for painting. It's been a fun process learning to prepare the surface in a way I enjoy painting on. It includes layers of gesso, waiting for paint to dry literally, and sanding a smooth surface 😅

I will have a few new works available at the end of July and can't wait to share them 😊

In the meantime...🌻

This was the last painting I painted before the turn of the season, which came very early this year.

It's called "The Joy of Summer Skies" and it took me a while to finish it. I kept holding onto that quiet feeling of late summer, making the clouds a bit pinker and the sky a bit bluer. Reminding myself that joy doesn't have to be loud.

I released it to my email (collector's list) a few weeks ago and it sold instantly, and its already hanging happily in its new home, spreading summer joy all around 😊

AZURE DREAMS // Imagine a place where the sky and landscape speak in vibrant blues and emerald greens, where trees linger along the edge of a stream, and light moves gently across the horizon.

This is a place I call Azure Dreams.

A landscape shaped by freedom — to wander, to notice, to rest in the simple beauty of nature and the Creator’s work.

This is the feeling I wanted to capture in this original painting, with vibrant colours, balanced to bring a quiet, peaceful joy to a space.

Thank you for pausing and watching me make very satisfying marks in green 🌿

My process of beginning a painting always starts off with loose and free paint brush strokes, first adding colour and worrying about how the shapes and details blend together to form the landscape I have in mind later.

A NEW SEASON BEGINS // Mood Forest is changing.

What started as a hobby during COVID times has evolved into an art practice and eventually into a small business. For the last few months I have been thinking of what this means to me and how I want to go forward.

Changing my studio name to my actual (sur)name is what made the most sense. It feels like establishing something new, but also coming home to what already existed.

What's coming:
- New Studio name, social media name
- New Website COMING TOMORROW 19.3.2026
- More landscape paintings but also sharing more of my illustratation experiments
- Documenting my continued learning journey into beter drawing and design
- Regular print drops

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and Mood Forest over the last few years. I hope you continue this journey with me.

PS: The technical side of rebranding is a much more tedious task than I thought. Please be patient with me as I work through transitioning websites, my shop and updated studio emails.

I had so much fun painting this small and bright landscape for a recent commission client.

It reminded me that I really enjoy painting smaller pieces that still have a lot to say regardless of their size. And they tend to fill up those small and awkward empty spaces on a wall with a pop of joy 😊

I've been so busy with website backend stuff and haven't had too much time for painting, but I think I'll do some more of these once I get a chance!
