It's all about fun musical activities for small children aged 2-5. Music brings joy! Early music education enhances creative self-expression, emotional well-being, social skills development and even imparts the child’s skills for school readiness. Most important of all, music brings joy! The music teacher - Mabet van Wyk was a member of the famous South African a capella group Cutt Glas for five y
ears. Before that, at the mere age of 17, Mabet was chosen as the youngest member of the World Youth Choir for the first time. After that, she was chosen for six more consecutive years of sessions with the choir, travelled the world with them and sang under some of the best international conductors. Mabet started her music education experience at the age of 19, as assistant conductor to Prof. Awie van Wyk (her father), of the North-West Children’s Choir. Mabet obtained the degrees Bachelor of Arts, Psychology Honnours, a PGCE (cum laude) and a Master’s degree in Psychology Research from the North-West University, Potchefstroom. She lived and worked as a teacher in London for 2 years and during this time she was chosen as a member of the BBC Symphony Choir, the only South African at that time, to have the privilege of singing in this prestigious choir. Mabet lives in Stellenbosch and is a music teacher, vocal coach & choir conductor. She also manages various exciting projects, sings, does backing vocals, frequently adjudicates eisteddfods and has recently started a farm choir at Boschendal. With her experience of teaching music to small children, her background in psychology and work as a musician, she looks forward to give your child a magical music experience in the Music & Movement class. She has seen the positive impact of early music education in children’s development and strongly believes that children should have fun while being exposed to the various aspects and genres of music.
