Artists Kali van der Merwe and Leli Hoch invite you to a free walkabout of the exhibition Symbiogenesis by the Overstrand Artist Collective (Kali van der Merwe, Andree Bonthuys, Yoko Reijn, Nikki Miles, and Leli Hoch) at Betrag Gallery, Stanford, on Sunday 21 September at 10:30 am.

Inspired by the biological concept of symbiogenesis—where two different organisms merge to form something entirely new—the exhibition spans fungi and AI, collaborative drawings and hybrid sculptures. The works explore the beauty (and friction) of becoming-with, offering experiments in collaboration, ecological entanglements, and unexpected unions of the natural and the artificial.

In a world shaped by crisis and complexity, Symbiogenesis asks:
What can we create together that we could never create alone?

Join us on Woman’s day 9 August at 18:00 for the opening of this new exhibition at Betrag.

Inspired by the biological concept of symbiogenesis—where two different organisms merge to form something entirely new—this show explores what happens when individuals, ideas, materials, and systems fuse.

From fungi and AI to collaborative drawings and hybrid sculptures, the works reflect the beauty (and friction) of becoming-with. Expect experiments in collaboration, ecological entanglements, and unexpected mergers of the natural and the artificial.
