Ladies First is a 45 minute documentary which explores the involvement of Women in the South African Hip Hop Culture.

The documentary gives an inside look at how women have affected rap music and in turn how rap music affects female MCs and explores why there are far fewer female than male MCs. Featured interviewees include: Gigi La Mayne (Mabala Noise), Zinzi Kahnish (Native Rhythms), Ms Cosmo (5 FM), Lex La Foy (Dis Guis), Yugen Blakrok (Iapetus Records), Patty Monroe (Cape Town MC), Levi Chetty (PR/Artist Manager), Refi Sings (Soul Musician), Linda Mash (Super Model), Fifi Cooper (Ambitious Records), Ntsiki Mazwai (Poet), Jalettua Nuune (Songstress), Tazner Slater (Freestyler) and LootLove (SABC 1 Presenter).

On Sunday, August 28th 14:00 till 20:00. Where Is The Beef Media is presenting an advance Screening of the ground breaking Hip Hop Documentary. The Film Screening will be complemented by performances from the finest female talents

With only three months of dope entertainment in the bag it almost feels like a year has gone by and with such feelings pressure is starting to build up, but that's not too much of a concern for the Slaghuis Studios team because unconsciously and unanimously they live under a stress relief meditative mantra that "pressure makes diamonds".

Conducting a much needed introspection on to how to better their shows from the previous, this past Sunday (on the 31st of July) Slaghuis Studios did exactly that by using their time machine fishing rod going back 8 years in the past and using the renovations done to Slaghuis as well as their newly buzz as bait to flawlessly reel in Proverb. Being the headliner for the third Slaghuis Hip Hop event, the masses got a whiff of his attendance and came in numbers. Art exhibition stalls were put up, courtesy of Synvisual47, food stalls as usual were there because honestly whats a Slaghuis event without some grub for the people. But the most prominent exhibiters of them all was when Russian Beer came through with their branded umbrellas and artificial lawn carpet, the place got real fancy the minute it was laid out.

Though despite having a few technical problems the crowd still received the show gracefully with open arms. Proverb even went on stage to address the people with some words of wisdom after his performance, a true artist he is. With all of that, one can only wonder/imagine what Slaghuis Studios might have for us on the 28th of August...
