A harvest of PEACE
In this artwork olives are being harvested. The fruit is still green, seemingly being harvested too soon. The wonderful thing about olives is that they can be picked and used while unripe and still green or black and fully ripened. I believe God can and does do the same in our lives. He uses the fruit our lives produces at different times for different purposes, even though we may think that we are not ready in a certain area to be used (at times allowing our fear of what the world and what people will think to overshadow what we believe God is asking us to do). It is so important that we listen carefully to our Father’s voice, fearing and trusting His direction above anyone else, He will reveal the perfect time to bring in the harvest.
Hanging from the handle of the pruning shears is a pocket watch. The watch seems to be missing some vital components - (the watch hands). I believe the reason for this is to reminds us that God operates outside of time, His time is not our time.
The olive is a symbol of PEACE, and I felt this to be the overwhelming message of this artwork.
James 3:18 (AMPC) - “18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God’s will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts].”
Be ready at all times to harvest the fruit God has placed in your life, it has been placed in you for a reason, be ready and willing in every season to harvest and then sow into the lives of others.
James 3:18 (NIV) - "18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness."
The watch is connected to the pruning shears by a scarlet and gold thread which I believe points to our Saviour Jesus Christ Who is our connection to the Father.
Colossians 3:15 (ESV) - "15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful."
Matthew 5:9 (NIV) - "9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
