Unity in the Word

This artwork speaks of unity in the Word, and of the fruit that is produced as a result.

Pomegranates in the Bible are many times a symbol of fruitfulness, blessing, and prosperity. In this artwork you can see a pomegranate tree symbolically growing out from the union between husband, wife and God. Part of the fruit produced through this marriage union is our children. Today as we celebrate fatherhood, I want to highlight the importance that we as husbands continue to walk in unity with our wives and with God. As fathers we have a responsibility to share our knowledge about God with our children. We need to be an example to them of how to love God and our wives, and how to live lives fully committed to our heavenly Father and in line with His word.

My prayer for all the fathers today is Colossians 1:9-13 (NIV) and it is also the scripture used in this prophetic artwork -
“9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

I hope you all have a blessed Father's Day!

"I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord God Almighty." - 2 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)

Cross-pollination

This artwork speaks of God's anointing on the life of the person for whom it was commissioned, however I believe its message is meant for many others. I hope this artwork speaks to you and gives you the courage to stand up in your God given calling.

It features the image of two hands opening a Bible and pouring out fresh flowers into a jar of anointing oil. Two scriptures are used, the first is Hebrews 4:12 (Amp) - “12 For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart.” and the other was Psalm 34:1-3 (Amp) - “34 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord; The humble and downtrodden will hear it and rejoice. 3 O magnify the Lord with me and let us lift up His name together.”

I believe God is showing through this artwork and scripture, that He has anointing many with the sweet fragrance of His word, calling them to spread His word wherever they go. In the same way a butterfly and bird fulfil a very important role cross-pollinating flowers in nature, you have an anointing on your life and are called to spread the word of God, pollinating many lives with the message of the cross.

At times the downtrodden will hear you speak God’s word and they will rejoice, but sometimes the people you share the truth with will not be as receptive, and you will need to cut deeply with God’s truth, but always in love.

I believe there is a special anointing on many lives, but with this anointing comes great responsibility - 1 Peter 3:15 (NKJV) - “15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;”

Look at the birds of the air.....and place your trust in the Rock of ages!

Matthew 6:26-34 (NKJV) - “26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

”Psalm 62:7-8 (NKJV) - “7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. 8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah”

Father thank You for Your provision and for always being my refuge.

You are faithful and in You I place my trust.

This artwork speaks of worshipping God — with joyful praise, devotion, and hearts fully turned towards Him.

One of the most amazing gifts God gave us is to worship Him… how blessed are we to be able to express our love and adoration audibly to The One we serve passionately!

I painted a table setting, where each plate isn't filled with food, but with a musical instrument to “consume.” The message behind this is that worshipping God is food for our souls (and enjoyable to us). Yes, the reason for praising Him is first and foremost to honour Him, but as we do, it “nourishes” us. God is welcomed where sincere worship and praise are offered (Ps 22:3). By inviting His presence into our lives we are transformed, shifting our focus from ourselves to Him. True worship lifts our spirits, changes our perspective and in His presence we find fullness of joy. (Ps 16:11)

I added four different instruments because we are each unique in the body of Christ. Every one of us brings something different to the table while worshipping God…no matter how and with what, if it is honest and pure, it is beautiful and acceptable to the Lord.

Worshipping cannot happen without love, devotion and an intimate relationship with the Lord. I added the symbols of communion to illustrate this personal and loving relationship. The candles burn brightly as a symbol of our love for the Lord.

This artwork is an invitation for you to dine with God and to serve Him with gladness. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!🙌🏻

Taste and see that the Lord is good!

Psalm 34:7-9 (NKJV) - “7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them. 8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.”

Psalm 34:11-16 (NKJV) - 11 Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, 13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies. 14 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry; 16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth.”

It's truly a blessing to be able to take an image which is very special to someone and creatively weave scripture into it, creating a timeless gift.

This artwork was commissioned as a birthday gift for a father by his daughters. It features their family home on a farm in the Karoo, a very special place to him. Blended into the mountains behind their home is one of his favorite scriptures.

Johannes 3:16 (Afr. 83) - “God het die wêreld so liefgehad dat Hy sy enigste Seun gegee het, sodat dié wat in Hom glo, nie verlore sal gaan nie maar die ewige lewe sal hê."

John 3:16 (NKJV) - "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

Anointed by the Son

In this commissioned artwork I have used the image of a field of sunflowers, their seeds rich in oil. If we have God's anointing over our lives, we will reflect true gold and light of heaven, and not the false gold and light of this world.

The Spiritual significance of the Sunflower - a young developing flower follows the sun drawing from its power and light, as it grows and matures it grows heavy and then faces east towards the sunrise preparing for the harvest. In the same way when we as believers follow the Son, we mature and grow, we draw from His power and light, growing heavy with anointing in preparation for the harvest and Our Saviour's return.

I felt that these five scriptures needed to be placed on the faces of the sunflowers:

Psalm 84:11 (KJV) - “11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”

Isaiah 60:19 (NKJV) - God the Glory of His People 19 “The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; but the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, and your God your glory.”

Psalm 113:3 (NKJV) - “3 From the rising of the sun to its going down the Lord’s name is to be praised.”

Malachi 4:2 (Amp) - “2 But for you who fear My name [with awe-filled reverence] the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go forward and leap [joyfully] like calves [released] from the stall.”

Psalm 112:4 (NKJV) - “4 Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.”

May the Lord strengthen you as He pours His sunlight into you, anointing you for the task at hand. The seeds inside you were not meant for you alone, but for replanting into the lives of others.

There were two scriptures that stood out while planning this artwork - the first was Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV) - 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” and the second was Matthew 25:1-13 (NKJV), the story of the 5 wise and 5 foolish virgins, 5 who had enough oil and were prepared for the arrival of the Bridegroom, and 5 whose oil had run dry and were caught unprepared.

May we all walk into the future with our lights burning brightly for God, and in the same way that we would shield a candle so that the wind does not blow out the flame, we need to protect our light from the winds of change. We need to prepare ourselves through prayer, reading God's word... constantly seeking after righteousness, so that when the Bridegroom arrives, we are prepared.

The candle wax in this artwork is covered with gold and silver, pointing to a life which has been through God’s refining fire, in preparation for the coming wedding feast.

A Celebratory Image

A beautifully decorated cupcake, in a purple paper, covered in blue icing and garnished with a scarlet cherry on top. Interestingly the stem of the cherry is shaped like a cross - pointing to Christ's sacrifice for us, which tops any other good thing in our lives.

The three colours used:

Blue - Heaven, divine authority, obedience - Exodus 26:1
Purple - Kingship, royalty, majesty - Exodus 36:35
Scarlet - Sacrifice, atonement, redemption - Numbers 19:9

This artwork portrays a person reaching in and taking hold of the cross, revealing that Christ is the most important person in their life. The single charm in the shape of a bag around their wrist is a beautiful reminder of past victories that form part of their testimony.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15 (Amp) - “14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us spreads and makes evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Him. 15 For we are the sweet fragrance of Christ [which ascends] to God, [discernible both] among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;”

This is my most recent oil painting titled - Unexpected Favour - and is my depiction of God's Unexpected Favour - The moment of divine intervention - when He elevates, shelters and provides for us despite seemingly impossible odds.

Esther 5:2 (NKJV) - "2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter."

Ruth 2:10 (NKJV) - "10 So she fell on her face, bowed down to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, since I am a foreigner?”

Luke 1:28 (NKJV) - "28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”

Esther, Ruth and Mary, three examples of women in the Bible who experienced God's unexpected favour.

I hope that this painting encourages you to keep trusting God for His unexpected favour despite the seemingly impossible or unjust circumstances you may be facing.

Luke 1:37 (NKJV) - "37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
