Tsonga Celebrity Gagash Arrested Over Alleged R1.75 Million Estate Fraud and Mercedes-Benz G63 Purchase
PRETORIA, 14 August 2026 — Limpopo-born entertainer and public figure Peter Nonyane, popularly known as Greater Gagash Municipality, has been arrested by the Hawks in connection with an alleged R1.75 million estate fraud and money-laundering scheme involving the purchase of a Mercedes-Benz AMG G63.
Nonyane was arrested in Pretoria on Friday, 14 August 2026, by members of the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit in Limpopo, following the conclusion of an investigation into the alleged misuse of funds belonging to a deceased estate.
According to the allegations forming part of the case, the matter dates back to 28 October 2024, when funds were allegedly unlawfully transferred from the trust account of one estate into the bank account of the late Mr Masha’s estate.
It is alleged that the funds were subsequently used in a transaction involving McCarthy Mercedes-Benz Wonderboom.
Investigators allege that two payments of R1.65 million and R100,000 were made to the dealership on the same day.
The R1.65 million payment was allegedly used towards the purchase of a pre-owned Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, valued at R1.65 million.
According to the allegations, the names of the intended purchasers did not correspond with the details of the deceased estate from which the money originated. This discrepancy reportedly raised concerns and prompted further investigation.
The investigation allegedly found that Charlotte Tibana authorised and effected the R1.65 million payment from the estate bank account directly into the motor dealership’s account.
Investigators further allege that approximately R1.75 million was unlawfully withdrawn from the estate.
A portion of the allegedly misappropriated money is said to have ended up in an account linked to accused number two, Peter Nonyane, with investigators alleging that the funds were subsequently laundered through the purchase of the luxury vehicle.
The State’s case is reportedly that Tibana and Nonyane acted with a common purpose, entering into an agreement to acquire the Mercedes-Benz using funds allegedly taken from the estate, to the financial prejudice of the estate and its lawful beneficiaries.
The matter was reported to the Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation unit in Limpopo, where a criminal case was registered.
Following the investigation, the docket was submitted to the State Advocate for a decision on prosecution. Warrants of arrest were subsequently issued.
Nonyane was then arrested in Pretoria on Friday.
